Since it's announcement in 2014, DC has been working long and hard to bring the highly anticipated Shazam! movie to light. In the initial announcement, DC was obliged to announced that they had chosen Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to play the role of the villainous Black Adam. The movie has been set to land in theaters on April 5th, 2019, just a few years after the premier of the DCEU film's Justice League and the record-breaking Wonder Woman featuring Gal Gadot.

With Warner Bros. already rumoured to begin production early next year, there's still been some wonderment surrounding the movies current state. Now that DC and Warner Bros. has confirmed the movie is alive, there's no doubt that the movie will be featuring someone new for Shazam! to take on, but it won't be #BlackAdam.

The 45 year old actor, without a doubt, has been involved within the project since the beginning once he chose his role. Johnson was even given the choice between the chance to either play Captain Marvel/Shazam! or the arch-nemesis of the DC characters universe, Black Adam. It wasn't soon after till word had spread that Black Adam would be getting his own feature film at a later date, and it seems that information remains true after a recent statement on Twitter between Variety writer Justin Kroll and film reporter Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap.

With San Diego Comic Con just a few days away, we can only begin to let our minds wonder about this exchange. Does this mean that DC has changed their minds and want to back build both of DC's magic flinging heroes or have they decided on something bigger for Black Adam?

Whether the idea is there that the Jumanji 2 actor is stepping down or not, this isn't looking to be the case. It seems the actor is quite busy working on promoting his upcoming movies Jumanji 2: Welcome to the Jungle and Rampage. The latest one is based on a video game, which is features gigantic versions of a lizard, ape, and werewolf that tore across the world while causing absolute chaos.

While this seems to be the case, it takes his ability to begin filming in Shazam! impossible for the 2019 release window. While there's no doubt he could begin filming Black Adam soon, it doesn't look like the time and availability will be there due to these films, but fear not, the actor hasn't said that he's stepping away from the DCEU.

He's continually teased on Instagram over the holiday season back in December his role in the DCEU with future co-star and Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill.

While San Diego Comic-Con is close to happening in Hall H for a panel, you can also check out what the actor had to say about his newest role.
