Step aside Star Wars lovers. You've been beaten. Sherlock Holmes stormed back onto our screens on New Years Day and in cinemas with 'The Abominable Bride' and has beaten 'The Force Awakens' at the South Korean Box Office.

3rd Place: Sherlock - 'The Abominable Bride'4th Place: Star Wars - 'The Force Awakens'

'The Abominable Bride' saw Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and John Watson (Martin Freeman) travel back in time to Victorian London for the 90 minute festive special. 'The Abominable Bride' gathered $4.4 Million. That is 16.4% of the New Year weekend's box office total.

Star Wars had unfortunately dropped down two places, yes two, as it's market share had rapidly dropped from 22.1% right down to just 9%. The force isn't so strong now.

The Force Awakens

2016 sees filming begin for Season 4 of Sherlock with an air date of 2017. However, Star Wars has overtaken 'Skyfall' and becoming the highest grossing film of all-time in the UK just 3 weeks after it was released. That's a plus side for Star Wars. Star Wars has made £102.3 million to this current date.

Sherlock returns to our screens next year!
