'Sirens': TV Show Review

Are you as much in love with this series as I am?

This series came out about a month ago and it is full of secrets that are going to unwrap. I hope that this series lasts long because it has a lot of potential. The strained relationship between the main guy and his parents, the military wanting the sirens, the town's history, etc. There is a lot of tension between a lot of the characters and the sirens aren't even involved in that. They are the main part of the show, but the hidden agendas are going to make this show last. But what are the real parts that will make you fall in love with this show? **There may be spoilers.

Ryn

The main siren, Ryn, a name she calls herself from a TV show she saw when wandering, comes to the surface because her sister has been captured by first seamen, then the military came and took her away. When Ryn comes to the surface she doesn't understand the concept of clothes, speech, and human interaction. She starts wandering around the town and meets Ben, the main guy. He's the main guy in Forever My Girl, which I highly recommend watching. He tries to help her and she runs away looking for her sister. Ryn ends up learning a lot by herself but ends up trusting the humans to help her find her sister. She is very curious and loves to learn. She is complex but you learn to love her.

Action to Kill

The first episode, Ryn killed a man who tried to seduce her. The guy probably deserved it, but you can't just kill anyone you want. The sister, named Donna by another character, has also killed many people. These sisters are strong and can kill easily with their bare hands. They've obviously done so. They are hostile because they don't understand what is happening, like why people do what they do. They are very very intelligent creatures, but the ways of humans are still foreign to them so they will fight their way through if they have to.

More Than One Person to Hate!

I don't know about you guys but I love drama so having more than one person to hate is great! It also gives the show more plot twists. So far there are three major bad guys. The first one is the mother of Ben. She is a sneaky woman in a wheelchair (not to degrade people in wheelchairs, she's just scarier in one). She hates Maddie (who is Ben's lover/girlfriend). She is sneaking around and trying to break them up! No, thanks! They are cute! Then there is the military. They are the ones that are trying to take the sirens and study them for the wrong reasons. Then we have Ben's dad. You'd think that the father and mother would be in cahoots together, but no. His family owns a fishing company and they are in cahoots with the military but only know to take the fishes from the ocean. And his family's history with mermaids is not good. With all these enemies, there are bound to be many seasons worth of plot twists.

Ocean Conservation

The two main characters, Ben and Maddie, study the water and the marine life that lives within it. This is obviously a coastal town so there are fisheries and marinas, and the fact that mermaids wouldn't appear on land in a landlocked state! Hah! But anyways, Ben and Maddie are trying to save the water and its inhabitants. They are trying to conserve what lives in the ocean and our world. This has made me feel that we, as people who live on this Earth, need to make the world a better place. We need to use less plastic, recycle, eat healthier, love more, pick up trash (throw it away in the first place), and just creating a better life for everyone and the animals that live here.

So far I give this series an 8/10. The acting just needs to be a tad better!
