Son Of 'Arrow': Will Helix (And Felicity) Reveal Oliver's Superhero Identity To Young William?
Oliver has been trying to protect William since first discovering his identity last year.
This post contains spoilers for Arrow Season 5.
Helix has proven its worth in recent episodes, even locating Adrian Chase as he slipped off his mask. There's no doubt #FelicitySmoak will use it to bring the Throwing Star Killer to his knees, but crippling a psychopath could have serious repercussions, especially if Oliver convinces Felicity to back away from the hacktivist group.
If Felicity leaves her fellow hackers in the lurch, it may result in payback that hurts more than just Overwatch. Recently, when a fan asked if #OliverQueen's son, William, will ever find out his dad is the #GreenArrow, actor #StephenAmell had this to say:
"If I were a betting man, I'd put money on that happening sooner or later."
So with Stephen Amell assuring us William would discover his dad's hidden identity, it should come as no surprise that executive producer Marc Guggenheim is tossing out words like "major consequences" when it comes to Felicity's connection to Helix, and he couldn't have been clearer that those consequences will especially affect her relationship with Oliver. So let's think about this.
Oliver has been trying to protect William since first discovering his identity last year. He even went as far as sending William out of town without knowing where he and William's mom were going — but finding someone, anyone, isn't too big of a task for Helix.
And if Guggenheim's cryptic responses and Amell's bet that his son will discover his alter ego aren't enough to convince you just exactly who is going to out Oliver, then possibly Season 5 Episode 20 will. Guggenheim told TVLine that the upcoming episode explores the reasons behind the #Olicity breakup last year:
“This is definitely an examination of the state of their breakup. It comes out of the events of 519 and, quite frankly, all the other episodes that led up to it. Something happens in 519 that really tees up this conversation.”
Why would Oliver and Felicity have a conversation about their break-up that revolved around William unless he is brought up in the next few episodes (beyond the mention #Prometheus already made)? And how will this affect Oliver's ability to protect his son from future harm? And finally, is this a situation that could spell the end of #Olicity?
