Stan Lee Reveals His (Unexpected) Thoughts On The Big Captain America Twist

Captain America is one of the greatest Avengers. He stands for everything a superhero should stand for: peace, equality, justice, and all that's good and pure in the world. Or at least he did. Because unless you've been living under a rock for the past week, you've seen this photo:

Yup, it turned out the Star Spangled Avenger is nothing more than an agent of HYDRA (since his childhood!). Fans quickly called foul, insisting that this was a clone, imposter, or brainwashed Cap. And then we got (more than one) confirmation that this wasn't someone else. This is Steve Rogers. Your Steve Rogers.

Since the reveal, there's been a ton of backlash from fans and celebrities, with everyone citing a different reason for their outrage. It's an insult to his Jewish creators! It goes against everything he stands for! It's a cynical cash grab! Well, Stan "The Man" Lee has his own opinion, and it probably doesn't match yours:

"It's a hell of a clever idea; I don't know that I would ever have thought of it for him to be a double agent, but it's going to make you curious, it's going to make you want to read the books, they'll probably do a movie based on it. So I can't fault it; it's a good idea. I think it's crazy, but it's a good idea."

Despite what you may think, Stan Lee actually wasn't one of Captain America's creators. At the same time, that's like saying Christopher Nolan doesn't understand Batman because he didn't create him; Lee has a long history with Steve Rogers, closely following his storylines and ensuring proper development for his character.

And about the twist entering the movies — who knows? Maybe Chris Evans will change his attitude soon.
