Tag, You're It!

From high school friends to adults, these guys still play tag. They have rules though, so it doesn't take over their lives. Every May these guys find a way to tag one another. They live in different states, have different paths in life, but the game of tag still lives on... as does their friendship.

This movie is based on a true story and really makes you wish you had friends like these.

Starring Jon Hamm, Jack Johnson, Jeremy Renner, Isla Fisher, Ed Helms, and Hannibal Buress, Tag is one of the funniest movies that have come out in 2018. I love all these actors and putting them together in this type of movie totally worked. Isla Fisher was freakin' hilarious as well. I love her so much! But the movie is very funny and has some memorable parts.

With it being rated R, there is a lot of swearing and I am not a fan of the F-bomb dropped every 10 seconds, but the good outweighs the bad in this movie! It was a bummer though that the Incredibles 2 movie came out the same weekend.

So the movie starts off with one of the friends applying for a job as a janitor at a successful company. The reason? To tag his friend and have access to sneak into his office to do it! How sneaky!

It's great to have understood the story beforehand of the people who this is actually inspired by. The creators of the game expect creativity and, in this movie, you will get creativity.

When the tagger tags his victim he is actually in a meeting with the Wall Street Journal! The tagee's, Hoagie and Callahan, are whisked off on their mission to tag their friend who has never been tagged, Jerry. The journalist finds herself tagging along for the ride to get the scoop and understand why a bunch of man-children are still playing a game of tag for 30 years.

The two find out that Jerry is getting married and didn't invite any of them to his wedding. The taggers come together to tag Jerry at his wedding. His bride, who seems crazy, makes them sign an amendment that they can't tag each other during the wedding events, including the luncheon, rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, etc. The group tries to find their way around that and tries to get Jerry before and after those events.

Jerry always has tricks under his sleeves and demolishes their efforts. As you watch the movie you are watching the different personalities come together as they try to tag their friend. They are allowed to create alliances and use wives/girlfriends, to help them either not get tagged or try to tag someone else.

The ending was probably my favorite part, not because it was ending, but because it was emotional and hilarious. I won't spoil the ending nor whether Jerry got tagged or not, but it puts in perspective the deep level of friendship people share. It really makes you think about why we need to keep in touch with our friends and try to create relationships with one another.

Overall, it was hilarious and definitely exceeded my expectations. It did have some dumb parts full of sexual jokes, which weren't funny, and just excessive use of the F-word. Not going to lie, even if the movie is rated R, saying the F-word does not make it funny most of the time.

Definitely take time out of your weekend to go see this movie!
