Roger, the former Pirate King, was the only one to uncover the One Piece on an almost unreachable island. But who placed it there originally? 2023 is ending with one of the best rom coms of all time, Anyone But You. Now the first thing I have to say about this movie is fire the marketing team. When I first saw the trailer I wanted to see it because I like rom coms and Sydney Sweeney is hot. However there was nothing that even vaguely indicated that this romantic comedy was a Shakespeare adaptation. Literally the best romantic comedies of all time are Shakespeare adaptations and this movie is no different. Anyone But You beautifully adapts Much Ado About Nothing in a modern and entertaining way.

Poor Things starring Emma Stone was released at the end of December and it reminds us that film should be creative and a little bit weird. The movie takes risks and gives the audience a visually interesting exploration of humanity. Emma Stone delivers an Oscar winning performance and Mark Ruffalo delivers one of his most entertaining performances to date. Poor Things is sure to get the academy’s attention come nomination day and I can’t wait to see it receive recognition.

The Iron Claw finally has made its way to the big screen and it is easily one of the most amazing and upsetting movies of the year. The casting was incredible and the story is hauntingly accurate. The Iron Claw will probably be overlooked by the academy come Oscar nomination time, but that would be a mistake. The Iron Claw is seriously an incredible and emotionally gut wrenching movie. If you like family stories that might send you into a depression spiral or it might have you calling your siblings crying then this is for you.
