10 Surprisingly Dark/Tragic Moments In Children's Anime
In the early 2000s, the runaway sucess of series such as Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z brought anime into the mainstream. As anime is such a wide-ranging artform in Japan, covering numerous different genres and target audiences, this briefly caused an issue as some networks bought up big in anime rights in search of the next big thing, only to discover the series' they purchased were not actually suitable for children.

Gladys W. MuturiPublished 3 months ago in GeeksThe Best of Buffy
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of the greatest shows of all time. It perfected the monster of the week format while still running a greater storyline underneath. It has some great characters and character development. And of course it has some big gaping flaws because Joss Whedon’s personality did in fact seep into the show. So I will be discussing all of it season by season in the simplest way possible. I am trying this thing where I talk about the things that I love but not in such an in depth way that they become homework for me. So in a very broad strokes way this is my Best of Buffy article for season 1.

When it came out in 1999, the film American Pie revolutionised the genre. It addressed teenage relationships and sex with humour and candour, opening the door for later teen comedies. However, one of the movie's most lasting effects comes from the widespread adoption of the iconic term "MILF" - an acronym that has since become a part of our pop culture lexicon.
Chelsea RosePublished 3 months ago in GeeksThe Most Skippable Episodes of Buffy
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an incredible show. Hell, it's the show that made me want to be a writer. That said it was a network show. Now that just means that they needed a minimum number of episodes which also means that not every episode was gold. So this is my list of skippable Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes. We are going season by season.
Alexandrea CallaghanPublished 3 months ago in GeeksHow the Oscars Work
As we are nearing the end of awards season with the Oscar’s approaching I am still seeing just so much wrong information being given out and I hate it. So I am going to clarify a few things here. It seems the general public has 0 idea how film eligibility for awards works (which would be harmless and fine if everyone didn’t act like they knew everything). This information that I am about to distill comes directly from the very free and accessible academy rules available on their website, so there should be no debate or question.
Alexandrea CallaghanPublished 3 months ago in GeeksTop 20 TV Shows of All Time
My husband and I were looking at IMDBs list of the 150 greatest shows of all time, which is entirely based off of their IMDB rating. Some of the list was excellent and some was rather questionable so I decided to go ahead and rank my top 20 shows of all time. I say rank but really these are in the order in which they popped into my head and they were not sorted beyond that.
Alexandrea CallaghanPublished 3 months ago in GeeksOscar Nominations
So the Oscar nominations were released and there was not a single category in which all of the nominations were earned. There was a lot of internet outrage and discussion about the lack of certain Barbie nominations but quite frankly that was the least of the academy’s problems this year. So instead of picking apart everything that was wrong I am simply going to put forth what each category's nominations should have been. This is what the Oscar nominations would look like if the academy wasn’t sexist and racist and stupid.
Alexandrea CallaghanPublished 3 months ago in GeeksThe Shattered Bonds:
In the hypothetical scenario where Bakugo, one of the central characters in My Hero Academia, betrays Deku and becomes a villain, the narrative takes a dramatic turn. The complex relationship between these two characters serves as the linchpin of the series, and Bakugo's shift to the dark side would send shockwaves through the hero society, prompting a cascade of consequences that redefine alliances, reshape character dynamics, and challenge the very core of heroism.
