The Double Life of Zoie (Pt. 1)

I ran up the stairs as my high school bell rang. My next class is all the way on the third floor and the other side of the building and I only have five minutes to get there. As I run into the class room out of breath I hear my best friend Tracy call out to me, "Zoie, omg I have news!" I run over to her and sit in my seat, and she tells me that the news is private. I know what that means, it has to do with our other lives. During the day we seem like regular 14-year-old girls who go to White Hills High School, but our secret is that at night we are the world famous trio with our other bestie, Emily. Tracy shoots me a text and I have to hold my mouth closed when I read it. Our group, The Stars, is playing a show this weekend at Teen Music Awards! I try really hard to go through the day as normal but the second the last bell rang I ran to our meeting spot.

We all walked out the door and got into the car. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! As soon as the doors closed we screamed out of excitement. My mom told us to be quiet and we began to discuss what we were going to wear and what we were going to sing. We decided that I was going to wear an orange long wig with curls, in my typical Leo fashion. Tracy was going to wear short blonde bob that's shoulder length and wavy, in her true Virgo fashion. Emily decided on her typical red velvet hair with a typical half up half down, in her usual Libra style. As you can already tell our nicknames are our astrological signs. By the time we were done deciding on our hair and outfits, we had arrived at dress rehearsal in our studio. We put up our hoods and placed our sunglasses on our faces and ran into the building.

As soon as we entered the room we were quickly whisked into hair and makeup. "Zoie what are we thinking for the wig?" my artist Mario said. I told him all my plans and watched as the girls told their artists their plans. Within an hour we looked completely different. I no longer looked like Zoie, I now looked like The Leo, with my fiery hair and bright green eyes. With our hair done and our matching glittery outfits on, we were ready to rehearse.

We rehearsed our set, which included our hit song "Constellations" and our brand new song, "Full Moon." By the time rehearsal was over it was almost 8 pm and we looked like hot messes. We took off our wigs and outfits and changed into sweats. We were ready for dinner at our favorite restaurant Super Sushi. We walked out and felt the cold evening breeze hit out sweaty faces. I was enjoying the breeze and almost forgot that there were paparazzi trying to get a picture, but Emily pulled me into the car before any pictures were taken. Whew, that was close.

Our dinner was almost peaceful until we ran into Jenna and her wannabes, they were our arch rivals from school. "Ew, Zoie why do you look so gross and sweaty?" she said in her snooty voice. "And Tracy, whats with the makeup free Monday look, it's Friday?" Her sidekick Anna said.

Tracy calmly replied, "We were at the gym, it's this place that people who don't consider shopping exercise go."

"And, you get covered in glitter at the gym, I think not!" her other sidekick Emma said.

We looked down at our arms and saw the glitter in our signature colors. I gulped, and looked back at them with little confidence. "You losers were probably in some arts and crafts class while we were shopping for the Teen Music Awards!" Jenna said.

"We have VIP passes!" added Anna. I looked at Tracy and Emily, we all were thinking the same thing, "What if they find out our secret?!"

I woke up on Saturday morning more nervous for seeing Jenna and her wannabes then our performance. Red Carpet starts at three and it's nine right now, that means I only had six hours to get red carpet ready. I hopped out of bed and jumped in the shower. I made sure to wash my hair really well and shave my legs to perfection. When I got out of the shower I threw on some sweatpants and put my wet hair into a bun. I checked my phone and saw it was 9:30, so I ran straight to the car that was ready to take me to hair and makeup. We couldn't do glam at our houses because people could recognize us, so we had to go to our studio space.

It took us four hours to get ready and eat lunch, and by the time we were done it was 2:00. We ran into the car, running a little late as usual but we made it to the carpet on time, looking amazing. Ready for our moment.
