They're the young and talented leads of two of the biggest film properties on Earth: the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars. And now Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland are pairing for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Chaos Walking, which has officially been given a release date of March 1st, 2019.

It is set in a dystopian world in which all living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts. The story revolves around Todd Hewitt (Holland), the only boy left in a town of men; he discovers something awful hidden from him and is forced to flee with his dog. With the townspeople in pursuit, the duo then stumble upon a young woman named Viola Eade (Ridley). They set off on a journey in which Todd must unlearn everything he knows to figure out who he truly is.

Chaos Walking serves as the film adaptation of the first novel in the Patrick Ness series, Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go. The critically acclaimed trilogy of books include The Knife of Never Letting Go, which was originally published in 2008, and its sequels, The Ask And The Answer (2009) and Monsters of Men (2010).

Veteran action director Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge Of Tomorrow) is set to direct the film with Allison Shearmur (Cinderella, Rogue One) and Doug Davison (The Strangers, How To Train Your Dragon) producing. The screenplay will be written by original novelist Ness along with Being John Malkovich writer Charlie Kaufman and The Blind Side director John Lee Hancock. Shooting is set to start filming in August with #TomHolland wrapping up on Avengers: Infinity War and #DaisyRidley in a break period between Star Wars sequels.

Chaos Walking Will Test The Star Power Of Its Two Leads

Just a few years ago, saying the name "Daisy Ridley" or "Tom Holland" would have warranted a polite shrug from a friend as they questioned who you were talking about. With the major success of The Force Awakens and the fantastic box office numbers for the newly released #SpiderManHomecoming, the question will be answered: how much of that success will rub off on its young stars for their other projects?

Chaos Walking will be helped at the box office by a built-in audience of book fans. Back in 2011, Lionsgate Entertainment bought the rights to adapt the Chaos Walking trilogy for the big screen, with Lionsgate president Joe Drake expressing his excitement:

"[A] sense of urgency and momentum permeates these stories — it makes the books ones you can't put down, and will make the movies ones you can't miss on the big screen."

However, the young adult dystopian flicks of late haven't performed quite as well as their respective studio might have wanted (see: the Divergent series) especially with the immense success that the Hunger Games film series had. Fortunately for the studio, Ridley and Holland's star power only seems to be growing. With Ridley co-starring in the upcoming Murder On The Orient Express remake and Holland's pivotal role in future #MCU additions, audiences are going to fall madly in love with these two talents while Spidey/Rey fanfic will become all the rage around the time of the film's release in 2019.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently in theaters. Murder On The Orient Express is set for release on November 10, 2017.

Are you looking forward to seeing Ridley/Holland team up for Chaos Walking?
