'The Flash': Is Killer Frost Melting? Here's Why We May See Caitlin Again In Season Four

It's certainly no wonder why Caitlin doesn't seem to be in any hurry to give them up. There isn't very much that can stop her ... except maybe love.

There's no denying that Killer Frost is one badass villain, and, if you caught the killer ice wave she rode in Season 3, Episode 20, you already know she has phenomenal powers. It's certainly no wonder why Caitlin doesn't seem to be in any hurry to give them up. There isn't very much that can stop her ... except maybe love.

Note: spoilers follow for The Flash season three.

In episode 21, Frost agreed to help Team Flash restore Barry's memories — which would, in turn, restore Savitar's. What she didn't expect was how working with the team would affect her, especially interacting with Cisco and reliving the memories that he brought up.

Still, at the end of the episode, despite the team's determination to help her and Julian's profession of love, Killer Frost wasn't willing to stay with her friends. In fact, she even tells them she doesn't love any of them, and she never did. But her denial is refuted when she gets on the elevator, and for a brief moment, the iciness dissipates from her eyes, and we see Caitlin Snow again.

In spite of that glimpse, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly that we might not see Caitlin this season.

“How and if she becomes Caitlin Snow again, or she remains Killer Frost or a version of Killer Frost, into Season 4, you’re going to have to tune in.”

And as much as fans want Caitlin Snow to return, Danielle Panabaker, the actress who portrays Caitlin and Killer Frost, isn't as eager for her to return:

“For me personally as an actor, it’s been fun to play Killer Frost and I hope that it lasts a little while and we don’t necessarily tie it up in a bow right away. I’m enjoying getting to play her.”

And even if Caitlin Snow manages to fight the darkness or Team Flash figures out a way to save her, Panabaker doesn't think Caitlin will ever be the same:

“I don’t know if we’ll even be able to see Caitlin again, but as you’ll see in Episode 21, it becomes clear that Caitlin Snow and Killer Frost do occupy the same body and that they have the same memories. The things Caitlin remembers, Killer Frost can access as well. It’s more a question of if she chooses to and how she feels about Caitlin’s memories."

To date, Killer Frost hasn't earned her name in that she hasn't killed anyone, but with the final showdown coming, Frost will play a big part in Savitar's plan according to Kreisberg. That might give her the opportunity to use her powers for the evil in which they were intended. That would explain her continuation into Season 4. How will the team respond if Frost does take a life? And how will Caitlin Snow handle what she's done if that happens?

Whatever the plan is for Killer Frost, we look forward to the return of Caitlin Snow even if we wish she could keep a portion of her kick-ass powers!
