'The Librarians,' Michael Rooker and Tara Strong Headline Day One of the 2017 NYCC

Next Thursday, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center will welcome thousands of pop culture aficionados in the 2017 New York Comic Con (NYCC).

In addition to thousands of cosplayers, creators, and celebrities that come to the convention, the New York Comic Con has become famous for its impeccable panels. GEEKS share its take on the blockbuster panels that will kick off this four-day weekend event.

'The Librarians' & 'Bad Samaritan' with Dean Devlin (11:15 AM to 12:15 PM; 1A10)

Screenwriter Dean Devlin will kickstart the New York Comic Con! The Librarians creator is expected to be joined by series stars Christian Kane and John Harlan Kim as they preview the TNT fantasy drama’s fourth season. Also, actor Robert Sheehan will join Mr. Devlin as they tease their upcoming thriller, Bad Samaritan.

Tara Strong Spotlight (12:15 to 1:15 PM; 1A06)

For 31 years, Tara Strong has used her voice to bring some of our favorite cartoon characters to life. From playing superheroines such as Batgirl and Raven to stealing scenes as Dil Pickles and Timmy Turner, Ms. Strong is expected to talk about all aspects of her legendary career exclusively at this New York Comic Con exclusive panel.

Michael Jackson’s Halloween (12:30 to 1:30 PM; 1A10)

It is hard to believe that the King of Pop has been dead for over eight years! Now, the Michael Jackson Estate has given its blessings to bring some of MJ’s spookiest songs to the animated world. CBS will premiere the hour-long Michael Jackson’s Halloween animated special that focuses on the adventures of Vincent (voiced by Lucas Till) and Victoria (Kiersey Clemons) as they find themselves at a spooky hotel called This Place Hotel on Halloween Night. Before the special airs, several of the creators involved with the project are expected to talk and possibly preview the special at NYCC!

DC’s Meet the Publishers (1:30 to 2:30 PM; 1A21)

Between Dark Nights: Metal and the upcoming Doomsday Clock maxi-series, DC Comics is producing some of its best material in years! DC Comics’ publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee tease what’s next for your favorite characters and titles at this exclusive panel.

Michael Rooker Spotlight (2:30 to 3:30 PM; Main Stage 1-D)

“I’m Mary Poppins, y’all!” will probably go down as one of the best quotes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yondu’s portrayer and The Walking Dead actor Michael Rooker will hold court at his NYCC Panel. Expect from juicy gossip from both volumes of Guardians of the Galaxy, AMC’s The Walking Dead, and Mallrats.

'Marvel Legacy': Next Big Thing (2:45 to 3:45 PM; 1A21)

The Marvel Legacy one-shot has been released! Several of Marvel’s classic characters are making their way back to Earth-616. Who are the characters that are finding their way home? What are the titles that you should keep your eye on? Marvel’s VP & Executive Editor Nick Lowe will join creators Charles Soule, Erica Henderson, Ed Brisson, Javier Garron, Rainbow Rowell, and Matthew Rosenberg in teasing the Marvel Comics’ future.

DC Universe Original Movies 10th Anniversary (4:15 to 5:15 PM; Main Stage 1-D)

Over the past ten years, DC Universe Original Movies have produced 30 outstanding animated feature films and five shorts that have brought several classic DC Comics book storylines to life. An all-star group of creators and voice actors that are expected to join the New York Comic Con’s celebration. Among the confirmed panelists that be in attendance include producers Bruce Timm, James Tucker, and Jim Kreig, plus voice actors Kevin Conroy, Jason O’Mara, Tara Strong, John DiMaggio and Vanessa Marshall.

Go Go Power Rangers Comics! (4:15 to 5:15 PM; 1A24)

Like teenagers with attitudes that are also technicolored superheroes? Perhaps this panel will be your cup of tea. BOOM! Studios creators will talk about their adaptations of the Saban’s Power Rangers franchise. Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers writer Kyle Higgins will be joined by original Ranger actors Walter Jones (Zack) and David Yost (Billy) at this panel!
