The Petition for the 'GOT' Remake Has Over 1,600,000 Signatures... and Counting

#GOT8

When I first heard about the petition, the one that demands the eight season of HBO's Game of Thrones to be redone, I honestly didn't take it very seriously, especially since it was written that its goal is to "Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers." I just thought it was very blunt and a tad harsh. However, Dylan D. has proven me wrong. Clearly there are over a million people who agree with him, and just after the last episode of GOT 8 ... the petition exploded and has become highly controversial.

The current goal is 3 million!

The actors aren't happy about it ...

Sophie Turner was quick to jump and protect her fellow co-workers. However, I don't think Turner realizes that fans hate the quick pace lazy writing... not the surprise twist events. “All of these petitions and things like that—I think it’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season,” she told the publication. “Like 50-something night shoots. So many people worked so, so hard on it, and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful.”—Sophie Turner, New York Times

Dear Sophie Turner, I like you but please don't turn on your fans.

When you are a celebrity your fans are literally, not figuratively, what makes you famous. It has to be well known to her not to bite the hand that feeds her. I don't know what she was thinking, but I'm sure it's sunk in by now what exactly she has done.

Kit Harrington's response is probably the more disrespectful than the fan's responses ....

"I think no matter what anyone thinks about this season—and I don’t mean to sound mean about critics here—but whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their [negative] judgement on it, in my head they can go f—themselves," he said. "'Cause I know how much work was put into this. I know how much people cared about this. I know how much pressure people put on themselves and I know how many sleepless nights working or otherwise people had on this show."—Kit Harrington, Esquire

Let's Recap

"I don’t mean to sound mean... but... they can go f—themselves"—Kit Harrington

Ouch!

I wonder what he would have said if he was trying to sound mean. Oh no wait, it sounds like this: "If people feel let down by it, I don't give a F—!" - Kit Harrington

No, really... he actually said that too.

What are the fans saying?

"So much was left unexplored!"—Janelle Fitzsimmons

"I'm signing this petition because the whole show was spoiled by the last 3 episodes of season 8"—Daria Orlova

"HBO have temerity to submitted the worst written episodes of Game of Thrones for some sort of awards. If of course there's such awards for the worst written show".—Peter Smit Gary

Brittany Anders says it Perfectly!

"It's not rude, or ridiculous to sign the petition. Our opinions matter, we are the ones who buy the DVD sets or subscribe to HBO. The remake isn't because khaleesi went mad, that's been foreshadowed since season 2. It's not bc bran [became] king, knowledge is power. It's because it was:

#1 filmed quickly - the picture quality in episode 3 was poorly, the coffee cup in 4, the water in 6. Like no one double checked this.

#2 we got shorted 3 episodes in season 7 - now 4 episodes in season 8.

#3 we watched these characters life in detailed - from child to adult, from life to death. The show was like a sci-fi fantasy family, an escape of reality, an inspiration to many. People have even named their children and animals after these characters. Is it too much to ask for it to be properly done, it's like an artwork that I cant say was ruined but half cramped at the end, just rushed!... it's like the words of Jamie Lannister "it doesn't matter anymore" and ran with it.

#4 so many unanswered questions - What's the point of watching the wall? Who is ari green eyes? ... What was the point of knowing John's the true heir if hes not ruling anything?

[We can] compromise the situation, if season 8 can not be remade then add onto it a couple of episodes. Answer some of the unanswered questions, make it to where we feel like it ended on better terms. For instance show 10 yrs from now a few scenes of everyone. Who knows, maybe lady Breyanne could be pregnant. A new throne made and the city almost completely built, John's wolf and Arya's wolf find each other and have babies! Where is the dragon and khaleesi's body? [What about] Arya in another land? Will Sansa ever marry? Does she even want to get married after what happed to her? What are the unsullied doing, and could they be a problem?"—Brittany Anders

The Last Season Was an Insult to the Seven Seasons before it

The problem isn't 'how' the story ended. It's how quickly everything was rushed... after eight years of build up. If the show was done well, I would have cried at Dany's fate. Where are the tears?

Could a Season 8 remake actually happen?

Yes! Even if HBO refuses to do it... another company might take the challenge. Even if the actors are done, fans might even make their own version. Personally, I am just happy that the fans have spoken up. This final season is disrespectful to the fans.

.... Better yet, let's turn that last season into two or three seasons.

We waited so long for season eight… and it was only six episodes long!

I’m still a little confused on why GOT 8 was postponed so much? When I heard that it being postponed I told myself that great things take time to make. I assumed that it was delayed because it was going to a longer season than the rest… then they announced that it was only going to be six episodes long. Confusing… after all that wait and with really high expectations… HBO delivered rushed work with very little writing and no time to breath between battles. You couldn’t even see what was happening in the battle against the un-dead. I feel like I wasted my optimal re-production years on a celebrity chef husband that was just using me to help further his career.

Hello. Nice to meet you! How are you? Hmm... this feels like a really one sided conversation... why don't you follow me on social media so I can get to know you too!
