The Road Leading Up to 'Avengers: Infinity War'

A Look Back on the First 10 Years of Marvel

I saw something on Twitter telling me that if I started watching one MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) movie a week, starting January, I would be done in time for Avengers: Infinity War. Now, I have been doing this but I decided to go through all the films, having a look back at what makes them great and what doesn't.

Starting with the movie that started it all was refreshing. To see how far the movies have come is something of a relief. If all their movies were made like Iron Man, boy. Even though it is not a phenomenal piece of film, it still gives me nostalgic feels everytime I watch it.

This movie may be my favourite Hulk movie of all time. Now, a few people may not consider this a part of the MCU, but I can assure you, it is. Ruffalo's Banner mentions the events in the first Avengers movie. This might be one of the times that Bruce Banner is written to perfection, and Edward Norton plays him beautifully.

This is probably my favourite Iron Man movie. It shows Tony in a better light, actually developing a relationship with Pepper, making a new element, the introduction of Natasha Romanoff. Everything is pretty much amazing.

This movie is a classic. I love everything about it. Now, it may not be the best Thor movie but it has a lot of potential. It shows all the relationships develop pretty nicely, without going away from the storyline.

The first Captain America movie. Not everyone's favourite, but it's appreciated. We get to see Steve and Bucky's friendship, which sets up the second and third movie nicely. All three movies are written by Steven McFeely and Christopher Markus, so Cap's character development is amazing through all his movies and the Avenger ones as well, so he has a very good consistensy.

This is probably the most real I've seen a hero. The events from The Avengers has lead Tony to have PTSd, which causes him to have panic attacks. We get to see Tony in a different light. Half the movie, he doesn't have his suit. We get to see Tony, not as much as Iron Man. (Minus the giant battle at the end).

My second favourite Thor movie (right behind Ragnarok), Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to show a different side to all the heroes. And I like that. The first movies were all about getting to know them, their origins, and then the second (And third for Iron Man), movies are all about the events after The Avengers and how they're dealing with that. Thor decides to stay on Earth with Jane which is convenient for the second Avengers movie.

Now, this is my favourite Marvel movie of all time. Full stop.

When this movie was announced, a lot of people thought it was going to do horribly. It went on to be one of Marvel's biggest films—until other movies beat it, but we'll get to that later. I can never get tired of watching this movie. Its funny and light. It has the rare emotional parts, and Rocket and Groot's friendship is to die for. We also get to see Brolin's debut as Thanos and I have to say, not a fan. Thanos is a huge villain and I'm stoked to see him in Infinity War and what he'll bring. Just, I'm not a fan of Brolin, or why they changed the actor from the first Avenger movie.

This movie is a lot better than the first one, but still not the best. Characters are a little bit better—not perfect but better. It sets up the third Avengers movie pretty nicely (and a little foreshadowing for Ragnarok).

One of the most underrated Marvel movies ever, Paul Rudd is so funny and he brings a very real element to Scott Lang. He's great and so is everyone else. This is my nephew's favourite movie so I can assure you, I've seen it a million times.

The movie that's classed as Avengers 2.5, but not in my books. This movie still pays tribute to the comics without diving away from Cap himself. It stays focused on his and Bucky's relationship as well as Cap's and Tony's. This movie also sets up Black Panther and Spider-Man, two of my highlights from the movie.

This is Marvel's most visually stunning movie to date. The VFX is off the charts! It's a pleasure to watch and I can never get bored of watching it. Minus the fact that The Ancient One was whitewashed, it's a pretty good movie. And Benedict Cumberbatch's hand acting is amazing.

This movie was also the introduction to the new Marvel logo start-up, which is amazing. A little over the top, but hey.

This movie doesn't really flow into the MCU timeline. No, scratch that. It doesn't fit in at all. Besides that, it's alright. The story lacks quite a bit but the comedy keeps it going.

Spider-Man's first movie in the MCU where he belongs. It's a very good movie and Tom Holland plays Peter Parker to perfection.

One of my second favourites. It's funny and it stays very true to Thor's character. Bruce is written a lot better than Age of Ultron. With that said, it's one of the funniest yet light hearted movies I've seen.

WOW!! That's all I can say for this beautiful film. So cultural, yet still a superhero movie. That's what this is all about: showing an African country for what it is and not a toned down version, a full-scale African movie. This movie is with Thor Ragnarok as one of my second favourites.

From the trailers, this movie looks amazing but so did Assassin's Creed and we all know how that turned out. I'm keeping an open mind considering we've all been waiting for this for a very long time. I have my utmost faith in the Russos and what they bring to the big screen. And Mcfeely and Markus never seem to disappoint me.
