After luncheon, Sebastian had taken her hand and walked the grounds with her. Her strength was returning quickly, and he guided her to the place where he had found her.

Sebastian had to admit that he was a little surprised at how easily Louisa had accepted Ciel’s words. Had she recoiled from him on learning the complete nature of his relationship with Ciel, it would have made his existence little more than bearable.

“Why here?” she asked as they arrived at the spot by the trees.

“It is where we found you, what was left of you. It should help you focus your pain and anger,” Sebastian replied.

“Is that the only reason?” she asked with a playful smile.

“Well,” he replied, “it is also far enough from the house to put no one else at risk, should you lose control.”

He left silence hanging between them before grasping her to him and continuing, “And no one can see us here.”

Louisa smile. Grabbing his neck, she pulled him closer and kissed him. He held her tight and lowered her to the grass. As their tongues explored each other’s mouths, his hand moved down her body, gently caressing her breasts before moving to the fastenings on the front of her dress.

He broke away from the kiss, moved his hand so that it rested gently on her chest, and looked deep into her eyes.

“You must always be honest with me. If something I do gives you no pleasure or any pain we explore gets too great, you must tell me. I may be one hell of a butler, but even I need direction at times.”

“I promise,” she whispered breathlessly as she placed her hand on his and guided it back to her breast.

Sebastian smiled wickedly and resumed teasing her. As he did, he noticed that her eyes had returned to their demon form, as her black irises reflected his own red eyes back to him. He took immense pleasure in realising that she was instinctively controlling her two forms, allowing her full self to experience his desire for her and her's for him. She may be winning her battle with control, but he was losing his as he became lost in her eyes, and his hands continued their exploration of her body.

The decision as to what to do next became more complex as Sebastian realised that they would not be alone for much longer. He stopped and lifted his head, “What must a demon do to have five minutes of peace.”

Looking at Louisa he added, “Forgive me, my love, but we are about to be interrupted. It would seem that my young master is eager for a report on our progress. While my devilish nature would love to see the astonished look on his face as he takes in the sight of his older cousin being willingly deflowered by his butler, I cannot risk him making a command that we may regret.”

Louisa studied his face as he spoke, seeing the conflict between duty and passion, her body coursed with desire for him and the frustration of having to wait once more was almost unbearable. Yet, she understood. Nothing about their blossoming relationship was going to be easy.

“Of course, my love,” she said, “although he will need to know, perhaps in a way that is less damaging to his young mind.”

Sebastian smiled and set about straightening her skirts before swiftly returning the fastenings on the front of her dress to their proper place. As he helped Louisa to her feet, she grasped him by the forearms and looked into his eyes.

“I need you to promise me something,” she said.

“If it is within my power, my love.”

Louisa took a deep breath, she knew if she didn’t say it in one go, then she wouldn’t say it at all. “If a time ever comes, where you have to choose between his life and mine, you will save Ciel and protect your covenant with him.”

Sebastian looked stunned. Of all the things he had imagined her asking; he had not expected this. She showed such understanding for her young years, and especially given her less than pleasant introduction to her demon self. It only made him want her even more.

He took her in his arms and held her tightly against him. “Do you realise what you are asking?”

“Yes, under the terms of the contract he is your master. He comes first. Until the end that must include his life coming before mine. I understand this, and now that I have asked this of you, there is no conflict for you.”

“I promise,” Sebastian replied. “However, if I cannot save you both until the end, then what sort of butler would I be.”

Louisa smiled and raised her face to his. As he leaned in to kiss her, Ciel appeared.

He stood staring at them, lost for words. Anger rose in him, and he didn’t completely comprehend why he was so angry. It was only when Sebastian looked at him and finally met his gaze that he found his voice.

“Sebastian, what the hell are you doing?”

“Kissing, my young Lord.”

“I can see that, you idiot. I mean why, how could you, she is my cousin and you, you are my butler, you belong to me.”

“Yes, my Lord, as usual, you have summed up the situation very eloquently.”

“I am in no mood for your flippancy. You know exactly what I mean. It is inappropriate, particularly given our agreement.”

It was then that Louisa spoke up. Sounding angrier and sharper than she intended she snapped, “Ciel, can you not hear yourself? How close are your words to those of your father?”

A sudden silence fell between them. Louisa regretted the tone, if not the words. He was, after all, still just a child coming to terms with an adult world that she herself was still struggling to understand.

Ciel stopped, shocked at his own anger, her words were like a blow to his chest. He had not considered the effect what he had just said might have on his cousin. If he had taken the action that he had considered before she spoke, then he would have been no better than his father. No, he would have been worse, as jealousy would have played a part in it. He dropped his head in shame and guilt. Louisa moved over to him and placed her hands on his shoulders. He raised his eyes to meet hers.

“I am sorry,” he said. “I spoke without thinking. I have followed this path for so long that I can let nothing get in my way now.”

“I’m sorry too, I should not have been so harsh. I promise you that I would do nothing to compromise you or place your agreement with Sebastian in jeopardy.”

Sebastian remained quiet. It was not quite his time to talk yet. He could see his young master working things out and he had to believe that he would come to the right solution.

“I am not my father,” said Ciel. “But this must remain a secret. Should our enemies discover the truth, it would cause a scandal that would reverberate throughout the criminal underworld, putting us all in danger and making both our tasks impossible.”

He looked at them both before continuing.

“To the outside world, you must be no more than society would expect. What you do behind closed doors and under the cover of night is for you alone to decide.”

Ciel looked once more at Louisa and then turned his full attention to Sebastian. “Once my path has ended and my soul is yours, Louisa will be the only remaining head of the Phantomhive family. She will be free to do as she pleases, but only if our agreement remains solid. Do I have your word, both of you, that this can be done?”

Louisa kissed Ciel on the cheek, “You have my word cousin.”

She let go of his shoulders and stepped back, leaving a clear path for Sebastian. He moved in front of his young master and knelt at his feet. “I am forever your faithful servant. I will be at your side until the end. Our covenant remains unchanged.”

Ciel gave the briefest of smiles.

“Excellent, now I am hungry, and I believe that you have actual training to do. Maybe we should continue up at the house.”

Sebastian stood and bowed. “Yes, my young master, as you wish.”

Ciel offered his arm to Louisa and they started back to the house with Sebastian just a few steps behind his master. Sebastian turned over the events in his head and smiled. He had managed to keep control of the soul he so coveted and without losing the one he loved. But what had it cost him; that promise made him uneasy. What if he couldn’t save them both?

Ciel and Louisa sat quietly in the parlour waiting for Sebastian to prepare afternoon tea.

“Please do not judge me too harshly Louisa,” said Ciel, “I cannot let anything get between me and my goal.”

“I understand Ciel, I do. And I will do what I can to help you find those responsible for the death of your parents. We may even find a common thread as we move forward.”

“Do you really think so?”

“Anything is possible. Those that ripped apart my life are capable of anything.”

“You have a point. We may indeed find common threads. And even if not, investigating the Order should ruffle a few feathers and something new may drop out.”

Louisa nodded in agreement. And as Sebastian walked in with the tea she asked, “Tell me of your life here, your work with the underground elements, and let’s see what we can piece together.”

The two were deep in conversation as Sebastian left the room. He smiled to himself as he went about his usual daily chores. While he would freely admit that he was a little jealous that his young master had Louisa’s full and undivided attention, he knew that she would be his tonight, and for all the nights that followed. He focused on the image of her breasts and the feel of her skin. His smile grew wider as he considered all the pleasures he had yet to introduce her to.
