There's A 'Storm' Coming: Did IMDb Just Spoil A Major 'Game Of Thrones' Return?

Look into the fires, my King, for the Lord of Light has a message for us all: Prepare for a major return in the next episode of HBO's Game of Thrones. It has been a season of first meetings and big reunions, but among the slew of jolly bakers and long-lost direwolves, it looks like another blast from Arya Stark's past is ready to rear their head from the shadows.

Warning: spoilers ahead for Game of Thrones.

The winds of Westeros are blowing and there's a "storm" coming to the Seven Kingdoms, well, Gendry Storm to be precise. After rowing off to an uncertain fate all those years ago, it looks like the Baratheon bastard blacksmith will make his triumphant return to the snowy saga in Season 7's "Eastwatch."

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that IMDb has listed actor Joe Dempsie on the cast list for the upcoming episode, which also appears to show action for the likes of Beric Dondarrion and The Hound. Even more suspiciously, those Little Birds spotted that the site then quickly removed the name from the episode.

Obviously, these things can be easily edited and the site has been wrong before, but as we wind toward the end of Season 7, people are rightly asking, "Where is Gendry?" It could be a case of better late than never, but with Dempsie's character MIA since Season 3, fans of the show are theorizing that the return of someone so seemingly minor must mean Gendry is set for big things moving forward.

Annoyingly, various set pictures and filming reports revealed Gendry's return months ago, and for a show that would normally cut out its own tongue rather than reveal spoilers, it didn't do a very good job at keeping the lid on this one. Since then, it has been a bit of a waiting game, but if you've waited four years, what's another few days? While the circumstances surrounding Gendry's return remain a mystery, we have already guessed what role he could have to play in the rest of the Ice and Fire fantasy. That being said, there is a still a Doom of Valyria smokescreen surrounding his return and if it will indeed take place during "Eastwatch."

HBO did a typically good job of keeping Gendry out of the promo for the next episode, but as we head North, could his return have anything to do with the Night's Watch defending Eastwatch by the Sea? Long before Gendry was singing row, row, row your boat, he had high hopes of taking the Black and joining the rest of the brothers. Who knows, maybe Gendry has spent all these years hiding in plain sight among the ranks of rapists and thieves?

Alternatively, we can assume that Team Dany will continue to swell its ranks back at Dragonstone, so Ser Davos could get a surprise visit from the man he sent boating to safety in Season 3. The final, and altogether more interesting option is that a reformed Melisandre could have set out to right her wrongs against Gendry. The Red Woman was last seen heading for Volantis with "one more thing" to do, so maybe she was off to collect the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. With only three episodes of Season 7 left, let's hope that the boy from Flea Bottom makes his long-awaited return sooner rather than later.
