'They Want To Get Everyone Involved': Supergirl Plays A Bigger Role In This Season's Epic Arrowverse Crossover

If there's one thing DCTV fans look forward to every season, it's the crossover episodes that involve Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and, most recently, Supergirl. For four episodes, the superheroes get a chance to interact with one another, and we get to see different sides of our favorites.

Unfortunately, last season, we didn't get to see as much of Supergirl in the crossover episodes as we did the other characters. According to Arrow star Stephen Amell, speaking with ComicBook.com, that's going to be corrected for the upcoming crossover.

"I think the idea this year, from what I understand is, last year they said four-night crossover but in a lot of ways, Supergirl was just kind of a lead in to The Flash, so I think this year they really want to get everyone involved," Amell said. "It's not going to be a four-night, well I guess four-night, but Legends and Flash are on the same night. I think they want to get everyone involved in every show. I like having the anchor, we have the anchor this year, Thursday night."

The Invasion! crossover from last season is going to be a hard act to follow, especially since it include Arrow's hundredth episode. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told EW that he felt like each crossover has topped the previous one, but this year's stakes might be more emotional since it will be difficult to top aliens:

“If we end up doing what we’re talking about doing, it’s going to be pretty cool. The crossover is always the most challenging thing we do, but it’s also the most fun. Every year we feel the pressure [to top ourselves]. I feel like each crossover has topped the previous one. Topping last year’s, that’s a high bar, if for no other reason than what do you do that’s bigger than aliens? We’ve got some very, very exciting ideas…. Very early on in the process of doing last year’s crossover, Greg [Berlanti] said there’s probably no way to get bigger than aliens, so the best way to make the [next] crossover especially epic is if you can’t increase the bombast, increase the emotional stakes and the emotional payoffs, so that’s a very oblique comment on where our heads are at for this season.”

That certainly leaves the door open for a lot of speculation, especially when three of the DC shows — #Arrow, #TheFlash and Supergirl — ended on highly emotional notes. They'll each have roughly seven episodes before they're hit with even more heartbreaking or heartwarming moments.

Whatever is coming around the corner, one thing is for sure: Arrowverse crossovers win in the ratings, and fans can't wait to see what's coming this fall!
