The dance scenes in Beauty and the Beast were so magical they captivated audiences across the globe. So many girls wanted to be Belle even though she was dancing with a Beast. Emma Watson made it look so natural and effortless as she glided across the dance floor with a longing look in her eyes. But what we couldn't see was her actual dance partner.

Since the Beast was created using CGI (computer generated imagery), Dan Stevens had to wear a suit that made him look like a grey Michelin Man. Oh, and he had to dance with Emma on steel stilts for the height of the Beast.

As Stevens told People.com in March, “Ultimately we went for a fusion of technologies. [It was] traditional motion capture and puppeteering of a big muscle suit on stilts. I was inside this 40–lb. thing covered in gray lycra and marker dots.”

And Emma had to appear as though she was falling in love with a Beast when, in fact, she was dancing with a man in a unitard with fake muscles. How she managed to hold her composure, we'll never know.

Now that you've seen these images, here's a glimpse of the real dance scene. Now that we know the truth behind the romantic dance, can we all give a round of applause for Emma for never cracking a smile?

And we think Dan deserves some accolades for being wearing the suit and not demanding that these pre-CGI images never be shown.
