The trailer didn't offer much in terms of new content but there were a few things to take away from it. Check it out below:

For one, the trailer confirms Thor and Hulk will fight the fiery demon, Surtur in the realm of Muspelheim. They can be seen in a dark underworld where fire is plentiful, so it's fairly obvious where they're at. Hulk has been featured in multiple images jumping at a much larger incarnation of Surtur, different from the humanoid version Thor fights. Nevertheless, we'll have to wait and see how the scene plays out, because it'll definitely be interesting to learn why Thor and Hulk have journeyed to Surtur's domain.

While the rest of the trailer seemed somewhat lackluster, the final moments did provide the audience with a nod to a very infamous group of antiheroes from Marvel comics: The Revengers.

When Thor is seen recruiting the members of his team of Avengers, Valkyrie asks him what he intends the name their team? Thor seems unsure of how to answer, then randomly spews out, the Revengers. It may seem irrelevant but it was probably a play on the Avengers since Thor couldn't think of anything clever at the moment. However, there's more to the name, the Revengers.

Who are the Revengers?

In Marvel comics, the Revengers were an actual team of anti-heroes, with an ill conceived mission. The team was headed up by Simon Williams a.k.a. Wonder Man, who felt like the Avengers were failing at their job of protecting the planet. As a result, Williams formed a team of second tier heroes. The team consisted of D-Man, Anti-Venom, Virtue, Captain Ultra, Goliath, Atlas, and Century to combat them.

The group's purpose was to eliminate the Avengers, setting themselves up as the new heroes of Earth but they failed after being trapped at Citi Field, putting an end to their mission.

Now, the Revengers probably aren't going to show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe just because Thor namedropped them, so it was probably just a clever nod to the comic version of the team, added to the film by Taika Waititi. Although, we shouldn't rule out the possibility of the Revengers becoming part of the MCU in the future.

With opinion of the Avengers being somewhat negative at the moment, it's possible a new team of heroes could crop up to replace them, and do a better job. Some fans had suggested Secretary of State, Thaddeus Ross might assemble the Thunderbolts during Captain America: Civil War but that didn't happen. That said, a rival group of heroes like the Revengers could be an adequate replacement.
