At this year's San Diego Comic Con, Psych-Os everywhere began rejoicing because the first trailer for the eagerly awaited two-hour holiday special was revealed during the Psych panel, and it is everything that we could have hoped for. But the cast had even more surprises up their sleeves as writer-director Steve Franks and star James Roday teased the movie wouldn't just be a one-off, but the start of a new series of sequels:

Steve Franks: I knew it had to be good, because I don’t want to make just one ‘Psych’ movie. I want to make six ‘Psych’ movies.James Roday: I want you to make seven.

The future six or seven films aside, this upcoming television movie takes place three years after Team Psych parted ways in Santa Barbara, California. #PsychtheMovie will reunite the team in order to face the most dangerous enemy that they have ever encountered, the Thin White Duke. It will take every ounce of detective skill and psychic noodling that Shawn Spencer has to defeat him. And from the looks of #JamesRoday and #DuleHill in the trailer below, it will also take every ounce of physical fitness they have, too.

When it comes to #Psych, I'll be honest; I'm a super fan who was disappointed when the series was canceled after eight seasons. Yet at the time, I remember hearing how dedicated creator Steve Franks was to the series and how he had a grand plan to return for six follow up movies, taking his inspiration from what The Fast and the Furious franchise has been able to do. As strange a model as that may be, it's almost a perfect representation of what fans hoped Psych would be - a long lasting franchise that showed no signs of slowing down. With the upcoming movie looking as though Team Psych is moving in the right direction for more films, it's anyone's guess as to what #SteveFranks has planned for the psychic detectives moving forward.
