Bad to the bone? Misunderstood? All we know is they are drop dead gorgeous. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the "Top 10 Hottest Bad Boys on TV."

For this list, we’ll be looking at attractive male characters on television that stray away from being the by-the-book, good boy protagonist. Since they’re being judged more on their overall hotness than how much of a bad boy they are, the characters in question can range from being downright villainous in nature to having a heart of gold underneath their naughty image. Also, be warned that there are a few spoilers down the line, so a spoiler alert is now in effect.

It’s a typical tale of nature vs. nurture. Born, raised, and bound to the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original, all Jax has ever known is the law put down by the likes of his fellow SAMCRO members. It's a lifestyle that often veers off into excessive violence, smuggling, and arms trafficking. While not above killing and embracing the criminal life, Jax’s devotion to the club does begin to diminish as time goes on, mostly due to the desire to become a decent father and secure a future for both of his sons. While the straight and narrow constantly eludes him, his honest love for his family—combined with those rugged features—cement him as a heartthrob. Room for two on that bike, Jax?

It’s hard to remain a good man in a world where the dead feed on the living, and this crossbow-wielding survivor didn’t exactly come from a decent background to begin with. Growing up with the likes of a violent, racist brother like Merle, Darryl has a hardened view on life, but he is still far more forgiving than his older sibling. Over the course of the series, he slowly finds himself forming relationships with the likes of Rick, Carol, and Beth. He’s a man who’s not afraid to kill for the sake of survival, and has few reservations about weeping when he loses someone he loves. We’d know whom we’d like to be standing next to at the end of the world.

Not everyone is cut out for poetry, and especially not someone whose writings earns himself the nickname William the Bloody. Originally nothing more than a failed poet struggling to get by in Victorian England, he was sired by the wicked and beautiful Drusilla, after which he became the infamous bad boy vampire who likes to sink his teeth into some very unfortunate women. However, unlike his associates, he has a much more romantic view on life, even falling for our favorite Slayer down the line. Spike and Buffy’s love may have been fleeting, but by the series’ climax, he managed to prove himself by dying a hero’s death. For that kind of loyalty, we might even be willing to risk listening to some of his poems.

If you want to talk about a complicated relationship, look no further than Jess and Rory’s rocky ride through Stars Hollow. This troubled young man comes with a lot of inner turmoil due to the absence of a father throughout most of his life. This has led him to lash out at others and distance himself from any meaningful contact. Things slowly begin to change as seen through his interactions with the headstrong Rory. Say what you want about his bad attitude and issues with communication, but you have to admire him for working so hard towards earning Rory’s affections—even if things do fall through in the end.

Money and a high social status can get you pretty far in life, and no one knows how to use these things to manipulate people quite like Chuck. To say he abuses his privileges would be putting it mildly. His status as a womaniser has changed over the series, and ranged between his either being forceful in his approach or simply using and leaving women. Of course, even he can’t escape the sting of love forever, as he does fall head over heels for the equally cunning Blair. While he still possesses all the qualities of a grade A a-hole, the passion between the two matures him to the point where even he can be partially redeemed.

For a being that’s over a thousand years old, this vampire isn’t bad looking in the slightest. Compared to the rest of his bloodsucking brood, Eric may not be the most hostile of the undead—at least when you compare him to all the other terrors crawling around Louisiana. Make no mistake though: Should you severely wrong him or his beloved sister, you’re going to end up mangled. Despite his vicious and powerful position as Vampire Sheriff, as well as his ability to slaughter anyone in an instant, it’s very easy to become enraptured by Eric—who, by the way, used to a Swedish Viking warrior. Whether it’s through his charm or Alexander Skarsgard’s flawless ability to perform shirtless, we certainly can’t blame Sookie for how she feels about him.

As we witnessed the residents of the island adjust to their new environment, this guy went from straight-up jerk to unlikely hero. In short: Sawyer didn’t make the best first impression. A shameless flirt with no filter when it came to his backhanded comments, it was easy to dismiss him as the guy we wish hadn’t survived the crash. Of course, like most things on the island, not all is as it seems. Thus, through his growing affections towards Kate and the rest of the group, Sawyer redeemed himself to the point where he took over as leader. With his days of betrayal and theft behind him, it was much easier to recognise his more likable qualities, and his attractive ones in particular.

The creatures of the night return with a vengeance in the form of this striking member of the Salvatore Family. He originally served as something of an antagonist due to his desire to kill the descendants of those that had wronged him. However, the rift that had long since separated him and his brother eventually lessened. Though his bad boy attitude found him continually clashing with Stefan, his growing love for Elena certainly humanised him into a character we could not only root for, but also find incredibly alluring. The vampire’s even dashing when he’s a ghost!

Another day, another womaniser we just can’t help but swoon over. Sure, sleeping with the girlfriend of your recently paralysed friend is always a jerk move, but Tim fought hard to earn back Jason’s trust after so many failures. Despite having rocky relationships early on, Tim starts to mature into a respectable adult who not only helps the Dillon Panthers win an abundance of games, but also manages to graduate. Of course, his shining moment of heroism comes when he takes the fall for his brother after he set up a chop shop in order to provide for his pregnant wife. Looks like he had just as much heart as muscle after all.

Before we reveal our number one pick, here are some honorable mentions:

  • Dylan McKay—Beverly Hills, 90210
  • Kit Walker—American Horror Story: Asylum
  • Daniel Desario—Freaks and Geeks
  • Klaus Mikaelson—The Originals
  • Hakeem Lyon—Empire
  • Jordan Catalano—My So-Called Life

He’s defended countless innocents from the clutches of demons, angels, and all manner of other horrors, has a true moral center, and will sacrifice anything for his loved ones. That being said, Dean Winchester is the most headstrong and mischievous hunter you’ll ever meet; and boy, does he radiate sex appeal on top of it all. Not one to shy away from some personal time with the ladies—of which he doesn’t limit himself to only humans, mind you—as well as a tendency to punch or shoot first and then ask questions later, the elder Winchester might just be the naughtiest hero you’ll ever meet. He’s quite literally been to hell and back, and we’ll happily follow the wise-cracking, hard-rocking, family-first bad boy every step of the way.
