Top 10: 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Queens

No T, No Shade

RuPaul's Drag Race is the one reality show I'll indulge in and indulge is an understatement. I'll watch that week's episode followed by Untucked and in the case of season ten, I'll watch Miz Cracker's 'Review with A Jew.' Each season I'm switching around who my favorite fishy females are. It's about time I have a long think (and a couple re-watches) to rank my top ten RuPaul's Drag Race queens.

So gentlemen, start your engines and may the best woman win!

10. Shangela Laquifa Wadley

Season 2: Last Place, Season 3: Sixth Place, All Stars 2: Third/Fourth Place

I want to start off by informing anyone who doesn't know that Shangela is particularly special for one reason. She's the only drag queen to compete in the show three times.

Now, unfortunately, even after she had more experience under her belt by season three, Shangela was never an expert in regards to sewing. But despite this weakness, she never failed to let her charisma (and her UNT) shine through. A perfect example is her snatch game performance as Tina Turner. She continuously left RuPaul laughing and it was obvious who she was impersonating despite her par performance. Plus with a catchphrase like "Halleloo!", I think unforgettable is the only way to truly describe Shangela.

9. Willam Belli

Season 4: Disqualified

Ah Willam...

I know, seeing the that she was disqualified may seem a little off-putting but this is because she broke one rule: She had sex with her husband at her hotel. Now, the queens are "quarantined" during the filming of the show, which, to me, doesn't seem like a huge deal when your days are filled to the brim with work. The big question I had was, how did she have spare time to have sex?

And what's irritating is that we all knew that Willam could have made it to the top three of the season if it wasn't for that hiccup. She was extremely funny and ditsy and glamorous and trashy. But most of all, the epitome of what "If you can't love yourself, how in the hell can you love somebody else?" should represent.

8. Sasha Velour

Season 9: Winner

Introducing our first winner, Sasha Velour took the top spot in season nine.

Not only did she repeatedly prove herself by showing her growth each episode, she really stole our hearts with her very last performance (Yeah, I know you know what I'm talking about). I'll remind you anyway. She took off her wig during her lipsync and fucking petals fell down from it. Petals. Underneath. Her. Wig.

But way, way before this, she was already recognisable. She was unique in the sense that she is the only queen on RuPaul to show that bald ugly is pretty. She expressed that having no hair shouldn't take away from how beautiful a person can be. Her iconic uni-brow is a wonderful addition to this too.

And she wasn't a comedy queen or a pageant queen—she didn't confine herself into a category. She did it all through her art. Some people have pissed me off by naming her "a rip-off Max" but if this was the case then I would like to see Max pull off a performance like Sasha in the final.

Yes, I'm bringing that up again.

7. Aquaria

Season 10: TBA

I feel as if this one is going to be a little controversial. If I listen hard enough, I can hear some groans in the distance. But the only reason not to like Aquaria is that she knows she's good. And if you really put yourself in her shoes, a twenty-one-year-old drag queen who has now made it into the top five; she can sew, she can do makeup, she's never once been in the bottom two. With that experience, you are going to be a little cocky.

Believe me though, I'm sure if I was one of the contestants, I would be irritated by her pride but she is incredible. She's also not done anything malicious.

I can't say whether or not I think she will end up in the top three of the season because this time around, I'm clueless. This has been an unpredictable one, for sure. But whether or not she deserves it...

I think so.

6. Alaska Thunderfuck

Season 5: Runner Up, All Stars 2: Winner

I think we all wish we were just a tad bit more like Alaska. Why? Because she's crazy. Not loud, not obnoxious but puts a twist, shall we say, on her character. And formally dating season four winner, Sharon Needles, it explains a lot.

If we don't take into account the state of her wigs almost every time she steps out on stage, we see a well-rounded individual who shines in almost all aspects. To quote her directly "I'm a queen who takes trash and turns it into treasure."

She's on everyone's favorite drag queen's list because there's nothing to dislike. Even Little Mix liked her enough to add Willam, Courtney Act, and herself into their music video.

From the moment she entered the workroom with a horse mask as her primary accessory, I could see a star; which is why she made it so close the first time and won the next. But most importantly, from then on she had us all saying "hieeeee" each day of our lives.

5. Alyssa Edwards

Season 5: Sixth Place, All Stars 2: Fifth Place

Miss Edwards is the number one dance queen to have competed. Yes, she came on as a pageant queen but dance was really it. I mean, she choreographed one of the main challenges this season so RuPaul really trusts her talent.

And of course, she was a bit of a drama queen (pardon the pun) on season five as she was running alongside her enemy, Coco Montrese. But wasn't that the purpose of putting them both on the show at the same time?

Straight up, I agree on where she was placed. I love her dearly because she fulfills each letter of the acronym C.U.N...talent. However, sometimes it's just not your time like queens before have said. There were queens who did better than her just like she did better than others.

I find her to be extremely amusing and not rude or arrogant.

That's why, even though she didn't make it into the top five, she's made it into mine.

4. Miz Cracker

Season 10: TBA

There's something about this season where I've fully fallen for these drag queens. When I saw the video promoting them, I knew that I liked Cracker. Her look was Trixie Mattel-esque minus the makeup. She was dinky dressed in pink and her hair was everything. Then I had to decide if I still liked her once the series began.

I did.

She was witty, well-dressed, and wise. On the runway, she gave her all, never a disappointing look. But what she really wanted to show was that she was funny. In the main challenges, this hasn't been so obvious, yet every second in between it's all there. I feel for her truly because I know what it's like to overthink and jeopardise your success.

Watching her YouTube series 'Review With A Jew' led me to love her more. She would break down the episode that had just aired each week and give a little more detail into how she felt at the time and how she feels about that now.

In last week's episode, she finally won a challenge which I hope gives her a kick up the arse to win. Because I really want her to be the one to snatch the crown; just like day one.

3. Adore Delano

Season 6: Runner Up, All Stars 2: Quit

And this is where it all kicked off for me. Season six was the first series I watched fully and then I watched the previous series after.

She was the one that her co-competitors thought would have left early on as she couldn't sew well, she was ditsy and had that teenage girl from The Valley essence. But boy, didn't she prove them wrong. So what if her dresses didn't touch the floor? For that, they said she wasn't polished enough. But to repeat her own response to that: "I'm polish remover, bitch."

This "party" girl took all of the critiques and improved herself without hesitation. Again, as a less experienced, younger queen, we all hoped that her bubbly personality wasn't all that she had. (Because fan favorite isn't the same as America's next drag superstar). Then 'Shade: The Rusical' happened. We found out the bitch could sing.

I mean, he has mentioned that prior to the show he had already been on TV. He made it onto the seventh season of American Idol back in 2008. This was as himself, Danny Noriega—hence the change of pronoun.

And I believe that he was robbed of winning that main challenge too. Courtney Act can sing too and she can achieve whistle-tone whereas Adore can't. But I still think she was better. I might just be biased though.

Adore is still out and about as a universal favorite and has been spouting out music non-stop and is currently touring her most recent album.

I'm so proud of all she has achieved because I believed in her the second I found out we were both Libras. Maybe that's why.

2. Katya Zamolodchikova

Season 7: 5th, All Stars 2: Runner Up

Firstly, I would like to apologise to Katya for giving you the runner-up position once again. You deserve better. Sweet, pure Katya. But if it wasn't for the fashion sides of things, you would be a joint winner.

The reason she is in my top favorites? Probably because I relate to her personality. She has an amusing laugh which you hear regularly throughout her videos as she finds everything hilarious. As well as that she's genuinely nice, even earning her the title of Miss Congeniality on the show.

Unfortunately, Brian has struggled with an addiction to methamphetamine. However, he has not let this define him in any way and has only continued to use his platform as a drag queen to spread love and find peace in his life (despite his relapse this year).

I rarely use the phrase "You're so strong," as I feel it's overuse has caused all of its meaning to disintegrate. Yet he really is and I hope he continues to use Katya to help both him and others.

1. Trixie Mattel

Season 7: Sixth, All Stars 3: Winner

And the moment we've all been waiting for (especially me)...

Trixie Mattel. Makeup artist turned full-blown drag personality, she's one of the most entertaining people I have ever had the pleasure to watch.

I was rooting for her during season seven and the moment she had the opportunity to regain a place in the show with the help of fellow contestant Pearl, I was extremely pleased. And she did it because she really did have the passion. Though I knew she wasn't going to win the show, I believed she was going places.

That comical barbie doll figure she portrays is charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to a tee. That's why she "stepped her pussy up" (as my sister likes to say) and she won All Stars. Not only that but she has succeeded on a global level in a way the other drag queens haven't. This is through her web-series with Katya: 'UNHhhh...' on World of Wonder. People I knew envied the relationship the pair of them had but my sister and I look at each other in unison, instantly agreeing that if we were drag queens then we would be them.

Due to the upgraded following from both series they have been given, officially, The Trixie and Katya Show.

I love her. I love her all. But she gives me exactly what I want for entertainment. She and Katya deserve all the success we can give.
