Top 5 Sad Movies

These are my top 5 movies that make me and all my friends cry. Most are expected and many people will agree with me. So, if you ever just need to let it all out then watch these movies. Spoilers are in the descriptions so be warned.

1. 'The Fault in our Stars'

The Fault in our Stars is an emotional movie about cancer. I know it sounds sad but most of it it is cute and happy. It’s not till the end when the waterworks begin. Most expect that since Hazel is the one really sick that she will be the one to die in the end, but towards the end we all find out that it’s not Hazel, but actually Augustus, that is really sick and dying. Then, when Gus has her read his eulogy for him so he can hear it before he dies, and when she reads the letter that he wrote about her and how much he loves her, it’s all devastating that they had such a wonderful and crappy story.

2. 'Marley and Me'

This movie is kinda a given: the story and life of a dog and his family, from when he was a puppy and had to learn how to obey, to when they had kids and they began to grow up. This single dog grows up and lives with his family till the end. When he dies you can hear the sobs from people watching. Not only does he die, but he got to the point where they had to put him down, and the whole scene is on camera for the audience to watch in tears. This story of living with a dog for a long time is something that I have done. I haven’t gone through kids with a dog, but I have gone through living with a dog and having to later put them down because they were in so much pain. It is the hardest thing, making all of this so much worse to watch.

3. 'Eight Below'

There are some movies I refuse to watch again and this is one. A pack of dogs gets separated from their owners AND they aren't all going to make it back home. Since I have not seen it in such a long time, I don’t remember much from this movie. I do remember some scenes where a dog would die and the rest of them refused to leave them. Since I have seen this just driving down a road, and from other stories, the fact that dogs and animals actually do this is upsetting.

4. 'Toy Story 3'

Yes, all of the Toy Story movies are sad but specifically Toy Story 3. They get separated from their owner and work together to find their way back home. Then he gives them away to live with a new owner and to continue to be played with— even Woody. This is even sadder, since I am the same age that Andy was when he gave all his toys away, so it is relatable.

5. 'Inside Out'

Specifically one part in Inside Out: mostly when Bing-Bong sacrifices himself for Joy and Riley. That is again relatable, since he was her imaginary friend and he becomes forgotten. The tears flow every time. I don’t remember my imaginary friends from when I was a kid, and this whole movie gets you thinking about what is also going on in people's lives as well as what emotion controls your life. Sure, everyone would want it to be Joy, but in many cases, mine included, it might not be.
