This award recognizes the contributions of individuals or institutions, from Spain and the world, in various fields of culture and society.

9. Palme d'Or (Golden Palm)

Golden Palm

It is the biggest prize awarded by the Festival de Cannes, held every May since 1946, in the city of the same name. Since 1955, the "director of the best feature film of the official competition" has been granted such honor, according to the jury of the contest.

5. Miguel de Cervantes Prize

Miguel de Cervantes Prize

Considered the Nobel of Literature in Spanish language, it owes its name to the author of The ingenious hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha. Since 1976 the Ministry of Culture of Spain has awarded the prize to a writer whose work has contributed to the enrichment of Spanish letters. The delivery takes place in April at the University of Alcala de Henares.

4. Hugo

Hugo Award

It's name is due to the Luxembourg writer Hugo Gernsback, one of the precursors of science fiction. Since 1955, the best artists and writers of the genre have been awarded annually, during the World Science Fiction Convention held in different cities of the United States.

It is granted every February, since 1959, by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in the United States. Although it has a great world-wide diffusion, it is rewarded fundamentally to the most sound of the American musical industry in different genres.

2. The FIL Literary Award in Romance Languages

The FIL Literary Award

Created in 1991 as the Latin American and Caribbean Literature Prize Juan Rulfo, it is a recognition granted to a writer in Spanish, Catalan, Galician, French, Occitan, Italian, Romanian or Portuguese, outstanding for all his work. The award is presented each November at the Guadalajara International Book Fair.

1. FIFA Ballon d'Or ("Golden Ball")

Golden Ball

The result of the fusion of awards conceived by the magazine France Football (1959-2009), and FIFA World Player, (1991-2009). Since 2010, the International Soccer Federation awards it to the best soccer player in the world, in Zurich, Switzerland.
