After a long week, what represents your idle way of spending a memorable weekend? What is that? Netflix and chill? I reluctantly agree, in attendance here are merely three of the best shows to binge watch this summer.

'Shameless'

Shameless, this show is an American comedy-drama about a dysfunctional family with an alcoholic lowlife single father who has six kids of his own. Spending most of his time at the bar or passed out his eldest daughter's, Fiona, who is played brilliantly by the exceptional Emmy Rossum, must involuntarily assume the responsibility of raising them all on her own due to the prolonged absence of her mother and the deplorable lack of help her alcoholic father is. The hit show is properly led by a hands-down extraordinary cast. Assuming the commanding lead, William H.Macy, who plays Frank (the drunken dad), has even recently been nominated for an Emmy award. Joining him is Emmy Rossum who establishes the lead role of Fiona, the eldest sister, who has also been nominated for numerous awards in various acting roles. The successful show has been running efficiently for eight full seasons and was even renewed for the ninth season which will be released later this fall. This show vividly portrays real-life situations, hard life lessons, and true family spirit.

'Orange Is the New Black'

The hit Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black has to be one of my top picks by far. Featuring a strong female lead, OITNB adequately provides us an insight look at a minimum-security women’s prison. The first episode aired on July 2013, progressively introducing us to one of our leading characters, Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling. She favorably received a nomination for a Primetime Emmy award as an outstanding lead actress in a comedy series and a Golden Globe award for best actress. The series revolves around Piper, a woman in her 30s who was condemned to a 15-month sentence in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum-security women's federal prison. Piper was convicted of lugging a suitcase full of drug money for her ex-girlfriend Alex Vause, an international drug smuggler who is played wonderfully by the amazing Laura Prepon. This punishable offense took place ten years prior to the start of the hit series. Piper had moved on and heartily enjoyed a peaceful ordinary life with her now fiancé to be. That is until being locked behind bars. In prison, Piper reunites with her ex-girlfriend Alex and from there on, potential chaos unfolds. This series shifts focus to how corrupted prison genuinely is. Between drug smuggling, funding cuts, and guard brutality, OITNB efficiently transports us behind the impenetrable walls of what a day in a women's prison really is like. The remarkable series has been efficiently running for six seasons now, and it's possibly making a comeback for their seventh season.

'Stranger Things'

At last, Stranger Things. A sci-fi/horror series set in the 1980s. Following the disappearance of an adolescent boy, a strange girl with peculiar powers is on the run causing chaos to the small town. The show’s first season was released July 2016, focusing on the active investigation into the mysteries disappearance of the boy during which supernatural events started occurring around the town, including the appearance of a girl with supernatural-like abilities who helps the missing boy's friends in their own search. The successful show was such a hit that was able to release the second outstanding season and is currently up for its third season, coming eagerly in the summer of 2019. With a lovable cast, the show has been able to win countless industry nomination and honorary awards handily. Needless to say, with a great storyline running, I’m anxiously waiting for what’s to come next and what challenges the talented cast will face. It is hoped the writers maintain the exceptional work in seasons to come.
