What have I been watching?

So I usually tend to write blogs about emotional health and well-being, but I thought I'd shake things up a bit. What has everyone been watching? What has been memorable and stood out for them? I've seen a few things recently that I wanted to spread the word on, and if you have heard of them before then... let's share the love on them (or disagreement...).

So let's have a think...

Dr. Foster

This is by far my favourite programme that's recently been on BBC iPlayer. It follows a woman who suspects that her husband is cheating on her, and as the series go on the story gradually unfolds and more secrets and twists and turns are revealed which puts a strain on their relationship as well as on their son. The acting is brilliant, and it was a very moving and emotional programme which pulled at your heart strings. I do like a good psychological thriller that focuses on people and relationships, and so this was perfect for me. It's interesting to see the way the main character develops and changes as she becomes more embittered by everything that has happened. Check it out!

Sinner

This is a brand new programme which was recently released on Netflix. It follows a seemingly ordinary family until there is a brutal murder committed by the main character in the first episode, and the series follows her time in prison and court as a detective tries to sus her out and discover what made her commit such a crime. The murder comes as a great shock, and the way it is filmed is great! There's a lot of mystery, suspense and heart warming moments throughout as the viewer begins to learn more about the woman's life and what led her to this point. Definitely worth having a look and I'll look forward to another series!

Undercover

I recently found this on Netflix although it was originally on BBC iPlayer. The focus is on a lawyer who defends a man whom she believes is innocent, although there is a twist. The seemingly loyal and kind husband of hers is actually an undercover police officer and despite spying on her, he ends up having children with her! A very gripping series and a great deal of the focus is on the female lead and her family. A great programme full of lies, deceit, heartbreak and fight for justice.

Wanted

I'm really impressed with this! I found it on Netflix (have you realised yet that I watch Netflix a lot...?) and I haven't yet got through all the episodes yet but it's great. It's a mix between a detective thriller and a comedy—two women at a bus stop witness a dodgy handover gone wrong and they end up getting caught up in it and kidnapped by the suspect as a result. They're the best pairing ever—one is feisty, savvy and serious, and the other is gentle, anxious and "not cut out for this." There are a lot of funny moments, and a lot of gripping twists and turns as they can't seem to get out of the mess they've been dragged in to!

Ambulance

Sorry for the biased focus on psychological thrillers! But here is something completely different. Ambulance is a fly on the wall documentary following paramedics across the West Midlands in their day to day jobs. It's educational, with the inclusion of concerning and shocking stats and figures, and it's heart warming to see how much the staff enjoy what they do and how they perceive it as rewarding despite the very long night shifts! It's very authentic, and particularly good for anyone who is interested in pursuing it as a career! It really reflects the diversity and unpredictability of their job... one minute they're helping an elderly woman who has fallen over, and the next they're being called out to a cardiac arrest! Check it out—it's on BBC iPlayer.

So there we have it. It's been great to share the telly love.

Laters.
