Some TV Shows that (usually) don't bury their gays.

Orange is the New Black’s Alex and Piper

This article contains some small spoilers, so be warned!

17. 'Glow'

This wrestling remake from the 80s makes you wait for it, but there is queer representation in the second season. A new wrestler, Yolanda, is introduced, and she is an out lesbian. Additionally, her roommate falls in love with her, and they have an unconfirmed relationship at the end of the second season. Bash’s butler is also gay, and Bash may or may not be. There is much to be looked forward to in future seasons, as the drama thickens and secrets are revealed.

16. 'Orange is the New Black'

Of course, you can’t make a queer TV show list and not include this iconic lesbian drama. The main representation lies with Alex and Piper, lesbian prison queens. But that’s not all. There’s, of course, tons of lesbians and bisexual women, including Nikki, Poussey, Lorna, Stella, Brooke, and new additions Daddy and Diaz. There is also an amazing trans woman played by none other than Laverne Cox. If you’re looking for prison drama and queer ladies, this is the show for you.

15. 'Everything Sucks'

An iconic 90s show, capturing the purity of wanting to make it big and navigating high school at the same time. This features two lesbians, one of which is an absolute shock. But no worries, it’s only one season in, and more queer rep in this show looks very promising.

14. 'Yuri On Ice'

This ice skating anime has all the gays you need! And they get married! And have a dog! Really, what more could you ask for.

13. 'Voltron'

Another animated show, this one has faced a bit of controversy recently for “queerbaiting” after killing off a beloved character. But, Shiro is still alive, and very gay! Plus, with the eighth season on the horizon, there’s no telling where representation may go from here.

12. 'The 100'

Speaking of killing off beloved characters! While Lexa’s death was a complete crime to lesbians everywhere, this show still provides apt queer characters. From some bisexual beauties to gay guards, if you want to watch the gays survive the apocalypse, this show has you covered.

11. 'The L Word'

It’s in the title. While outdated, this show gives a fantastic basis for queer representation in television. While it, of course, features many lesbians, there are also drag queens, trans men, bisexuals, and queer people galore. There are even disabled gays! Talk about inclusion.

10. 'Modern Family'

While not my favorite show, it does give us the iconic gay couple Mitch and Cam. They are funny, real, and have the most adorable daughter on TV. A very pure representation of a modern gay couple.

9. 'Queer Eye'

Yas queen, I did include this show. It’s every gay’s dream to be on this show, to be made over by five amazing gay men. A must watch for everyone.

8. 'One Day At A Time'

A remake of the classic sitcom, it features the most amazing feminist lesbian on television right now, Alena Alvarez. Covering issues from coming out, to gender identity, to navigating family issues, it is a hilarious and realistic take on family dynamics in the modern world.

7. 'Riverdale'

A super dramatic personal favorite, this show is a jaw dropper. With two lesbians and a few gay boys, it provides queer characters without them being the focus of the drama-filled show.

6. 'Supergirl'

This feminist forward superhero show is a true gem. With iconic lesbians, Alex Danvers and Maggie Sawyer, and a few hints at some bisexual ladies, this show serves up plenty of women power and action.

5. 'Crazy Ex Girlfriend'

This musical TV show is a one of a kind journey in a woman’s quest for love. It features a gay bodybuilder, a bisexual dad, and even some lesbians in the most recent season. Any theater gay is sure to love this show.

4. 'How To Get Away With Murder'

An intense murder mystery show that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. With gay law students, a gay hacker, and some bisexual women, the suspense won’t ever disappoint in this thriller.

3. 'Dear White People'

While this show’s focus is racism, it also gives great insight into the lives of queer people of color. With a gay man and a femme lesbian, it’s sure to enlighten anyone on both queer and racial issues.

2. 'Queer as Folk'

This classic is a must-see for anyone who’s ever even questioned their sexuality. It’s real, it’s raw, and it’s very gay.

1. 'The Fosters'

Can you say gays everywhere? It focuses on a foster family with two mothers in a loving and supportive relationship, and has many gay characters. This includes their son, Jude, and his various love interests, as well as their slew of lesbian friends. There are also two (yes, two!) trans men on the show who aren’t reduced to scarred stereotypes. This show is so real, so gritty, so dramatic, and perfect for all the gays in need of a binge session.
