Villains I’d Still Like to See in Marvel’s Netflix Shows

Can anyone compete with Kilgrave and Kingpin?

With rumours that Disney is set to establish their own streaming service that will avoid mature content, it is uncertain how long Marvel’s Netflix shows will continue for. Nonetheless, if this corner of superhero television is heading to its end there are still a number of villains I’d like to see show up before these series are finished.

Jigsaw

Ben Barnes will likely wear a ton of prosthetics and makeup to play Jigsaw in the Punisher Season 2.

Billy Russo was a huge part of Punisher’s first season, needless to say I’m looking forward to see him scarred up and trying to get revenge in season two. This version of Billy has military origins so we will have to see if his fall from grace has him turning to a mafia style gang like most of his comic depictions.

Gladiator

Matt Gerald has played a non-violent Melvin Potter so far but that can only last for so long.

Melvin Potter has already been hinting at his Gladiator alter-ego through both Daredevil seasons. He’s not exactly a well known character but his fragile mental state and history with Daredevil will make for compelling villain. He’s no mastermind but he would be great reluctantly fighting Daredevil when he feels it’s the only way to protect the ones he cares about.

Owl

Bob Gunton played Leland Owlsley in Daredevil season 1.

Leland Owlsley apparently died in Daredevil season one, but I would like to see him or his son Lee become the Owl. In the comics the Owl relies on experimental drugs to remain an intimidating presence in New York’s criminal underworld. This results in flight, super-strength and other owl like physiology. Traditionally he is a Daredevil villain but with Daredevil having a stronger rogues gallery than the other Defenders maybe he’d fit better in another show.

Tombstone

Billy Brown would make a great tombstone but I’m unsure if they could do tombstone’s pale complexion without being offensive.

Although he’s mainly a Spider-Man and Daredevil foe he’s not very well known so it makes sense to send him to another series. Given its focus on African-American cultures and cast, plus a history in the comics, Luke Cage would be the best choice for Tombstone. They even have similar powers. After being exposed to chemicals he has enhanced physical abilities and hardened skin and sharpens his teeth to be even more intimidating.

The Hood

I think Taron Egerton would bring a lot of personality to this gunslinging magic user.

Parker Robins aka the Hood is probably most tied to Daredevil but again I’d ship him to another series due to the amount of better known Daredevil villains. I’d pair him with either Jessica Jones or Iron Fist. His supernatural powers would make visually interesting fights with Iron Fist or his invisibility would make heists complex enough for Jessica Jones to investigate.

Sabretooth

I think Hugh Dancy could play a feral but less muscle bound Sabretooth that would fit with Iron Fists skill based fight scenes.

Victor Creed is best know as Wolverine’s greatest enemy but he was originally an Iron Fist villain. They could embrace the super powered version that Sabretooth has become or they could use his more subtle origins where he is a non powered serial killer.

Bullseye

Wilson Bethel is rumoured to be playing Bullseye in Daredevil season 3 based on casting news.

Probably the most obvious choice on the list that has not already been introduced in some way is Bullseye. In most comic stories he’s either a psychopath or military man who then becomes an assassin paid to come after Daredevil. Famous for his accuracy with all types of weapons and objects he becomes obsessive when the man without fear makes him miss.

Sin-eater

Other rumours insist the role description means Wilson Bethel will be playing Sin-eater.

Stanley Carter was a government agent turned cop, turned serial killer once the super soldier like program he was in gets shut down and his police partner is killed in action. Once again he’d be at home in a Daredevil season but I’d preferred to see Jessica Jones investigating his crimes while Matt Murdock is somehow involved in the court proceedings.

Hammerhead

Andrew Scott’s eccentric portrayal of Moriarty in Sherlock makes me think he could elevate this mid-tier villain to a whole new level.

In the comics, Hammerhead is basically just a mafia stereotype except for the indestructible plate in his head that he uses like a battering ram. He’s best known as a Spider-Man foe but would be suitable for any of the defenders to fight.
