Well, That's The Pitts: Brad Pitt Is 100 Percent NOT Playing Cable In 'Deadpool 2'

Brad Pitt is 100 percent confirmed to NOT be playing Cable in Fox's upcoming Deadpool 2.

As Ryan Reynolds prepares to slip into something a little more red and black, and filming will soon start on #Deadpool2, fans of the Merc with a Mouth are still battling over one "minor detail": Who the "Fox" is going to play #Cable?

Tipped as the sequel's second lead, playing Nathan Summers will undoubtedly be one of the hottest #superhero tickets in town. Pfft, move over Keaton and Brolin, this is one #comicbook character everyone wants to play. It was a nice dream while it lasted, and there was some kickass concept art of a shiny-eyed time traveller with #BradPitt in the role, but the scheduling gods have laid down their law. Pitt is 100 percent confirmed to NOT be playing Cable in #Fox's upcoming Deadpool 2.

Speaking at CinemaCon, Deadpool's director #DavidLeitch laid some ground cables that perhaps the biggest name surrounding the part had dropped out of the running:

"We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property. Things didn't work out schedule-wise. He's a fan, and we love him, and I think he would've made an amazing Cable."

Damn, by the sounds of that, Leitch was strongly circling 53-year-old Pitt for the part, however, with Benjamin Button out of the running, it shortens the list of frontrunners (slightly). We are still left with everyone including #MichaelShannon, #RonPerlman, #PierceBrosnan, and even a rumor of Keira Knightley (?) in the mix. Reportedly Shannon is back to being the current favorite for the studios, so anything, please, to get him to shut up about Batman v Superman!

There is no denying that Shannon would be superb in the part; his roles in Boardwalk Empire, Man of Steel, and his Oscar-nominated performance in Nocturnal Animals in 2017 have shown that he has an extremely intense screen presence. Let's also not count out David Harbour, the Stranger Things actor who became a standout success of 2016. Harbour may not carry the Hollywood credentials of Shannon, but that could be a good thing.

However, my personal favorite is still Brosnan, swapping vodka martinis for fart jokes and a testicle instead of an olive in his drink. Brosnan's absence from the role of 007 has made me remember just what a stellar action star he really is. Whatever happens, expect a casting announcement very soon.

Original Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have returned to pen the script, and it is expected that Cable will play a stoic and humorless counterpart to Deadpool — something Shannon's previous roles have already nailed. Elsewhere, Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead will return, and #XForce member Domino will also appear to further expand the X-filmverse.

While Pitt's impressive resume and tough commando-esque roles in the likes of Fury and Inglourious Basterds would've made him the ultimate edition to the Deadpool cast, I guess we'll just have to take solace in the fact that at least George Clooney was never in the running — I don't think we could cope with rubber Cable nipples.
