What If 'Justice League' Was Made in the 90's?

Look no further if you've wondered what 'Justice League' would look like with 90's actors.

I'm sure you've seen the posts about the terrible superhero movies we almost saw, such as more Clooney Batman movies and Nicholas Cage's Superman. Well, all of these posts got me thinking about other films we could have seen in the 90's, such as The Justice League. With Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hot on our tail, it could be fun to speculate what a Justice League could look like with 90's actors. So without further ado, let's get started. (P.S. No matter who I choose, remember that George Clooney was Batman and Nicholas Cage was almost Superman. It can't be as bad as that, right?)

Superman-David Boreanaz

While David was more of a TV star in the 90's, I couldn't think of anyone better to play the role. This Angel actor is the ideal square jaw Superman I would want to see on screen. Depending on what part of the 90's this movie was made (let's say 1999 for future reference, so that we can rule out Clooney or Kilmer as Batman) Boreanaz was a rising star doing hit shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and it would be believable that a movie executive would see him as hot property.

Batman-Keanu Reeves

Don't think about the Keanu that did the Bill & Ted movies, and don't think about the state of his career now. Think about 1999 Keanu. Remember what movie came out that year? The Matrix, one of the greatest movie franchises of all time. It would basically be Neo as Batman, and that would be badass. In today's society, you might think Keanu Reeves is a joke, but 90's Keanu was the ideal leading man.

Wonder Woman-Sandra Bullock

What? So maybe I like the Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock romance movies, sue me. Honestly, Sandra Bullock as Wonder Woman in the 90's would have been much better than Gal Gadot now. Bullock has the Wonder Woman look, and she was built for a role like this. Gadot was not. Sandra Bullock was very popular when it came to romance and drama in the 90's, but it would be understandable for someone to cast her in an action role because of her great performances, right?

Green Lantern—David Duchovny

Is it just me, or is Fox Mulder the ideal Hal Jordan? With The X-Files at its peak of fame, Duchovny was considered a popular actor for a hot second. Doing movies like Evolution, however, may have declined his fame just a little. But in 1999, towards the end of his acclaimed series, he was a prime leading man. Or in this case a supporting actor, unless they wanted to do a Green Lantern stand-alone movie. There's really no way to tell, this is 2015, I don't know what they would have done back in the 90's.

The Flash—Leonardo DiCaprio

Come on, the biggest 90's heart throb as the fastest man alive would have brought in so many fans. I can defiantly imagine Leo as a younger and more cocky Barry Allen, instead of the geeky science nerd. It's the 90's, no one cares about those kind of characters, people want to see snark. It's really still like that in my opinion, but let's not talk about it. Anyways, the snarky Leonardo DiCaprio Flash trumps the nerdy traditional Barry Allen, enough said.

Aquaman—Matt Damon

Photography in the 90's defiantly was not what it is now. Before Jason Momoa hit the scene, Matt Damon was the only person I could think of playing Aquaman, in the 90's or now. I feel, however, that back in the day people would be shooting for a more traditional Aquaman. You know, muscular, average size, blonde hair, blue eyes. That is the exact definition of both Aquaman, and Matt Damon, so I feel like he could nail the part.

Cyborg—Will Smith

1999 was around the time that Will Smith was breaking out as an action star, and we all see where he is now. Any casting agent worth his salt in the 90's would have gone after this guy for the role of Cyborg. Just imagine the swaggy Fresh Prince of Bel Air style Will Smith with really fake looking robot parts covering most of his body. Yeah, it could have worked.
