The Mad Titan, Thanos In Action

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS 4, AND SPOILERS FOR THE MCU IN GENERAL!

Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of ten years of Marvel's cinematic universe which started all the way back in 2008 with Iron Man. The character of Thanos was first teased back in 2012 with the release of the original Avengers movie so Marvel and the directors of Infinity War, Joe and Anthony Russo, knew they had some big shoes to fill in terms of making a villain who had been teased for six years feel complex and like a genuine threat, something the MCU has struggled with in the past. If you've seen the movie, then you'll know that Thanos is undoubtedly one of, if not the best villain Marvel has brought to the big screen, with him collecting all six infinity stones and wiping out half of the universe by the end of the film. So, in this article, I will try to predict what we can expect from the MCU going forward as well as some things I would personally like to see happen in future movies, most notably Avengers 4.

By the end of Infinity War, after the infamous snap of the fingers, we are left with Iron Man and Nebula who are stuck on Thanos' homeworld of Titan, then we have Black Widow, War Machine, Okoye, Captain America, Rocket, and Bruce Banner alive in Wakanda. Other than those mentioned, everyone else was wiped out. However, there are certain characters that we did not see in Infinity War, such as Shuri, Ant-Man, Wasp, and Hawkeye, and we are unsure of what became of these characters after the end of Avengers. Of course, we know that Ant Man and the Wasp is the next film in Marvel's cinematic universe, and this will take place around the time of Infinity War as Scott Lang is referred to as being "under house arrest" and we see ankle monitors being placed on him in the first trailer for Ant Man and the Wasp. I would say that the post credit scene for Ant Man and the Wasp will feature Hawkeye, another character referred to as "being under house arrest," with his family, who were introduced in Age of Ultron. The scene will probably show Clint Barton as living a peaceful life, happy with the ankle bracelet attached when the affects of Thanos' actions hit home, possibly wiping out his family, leading Hawkeye to becoming Ronin, as has been teased by several set photos.

Thanos With the Tesseract/Space Stone

There is only one post credit scene in Avengers Infinity War, showing Maria Hill and Nick Fury during the aftermath of Thanos using the Infinity Gauntlet. We see Maria Hill fade to dust. Nick Fury follows soon after, but not before sending off an SOS, which is revealed to be sent to Captain Marvel. Now we know Captain Marvel will play an integral part in Avengers 4, with rumours being that she could be the next leader of the Avengers. There have been a lot of rumours surrounding the plot details of Avengers 4. We will explore some of them, but it should be noted these are just rumours and are not confirmed in any way, shape, or form.

We know from Infinity War that Banner and Hulk are not on the best of terms after Thanos demolished the Hulk early on in the movie, with Hulk refusing to come out and fight as a result. The plot details for Avengers 4 mentioned earlier state that Bruce Banner will merge with the Hulk persona and take on the Professor Hulk mantle (Banner's mind inside the Hulk body permanently). There are also rumours that Tony Stark will build his own gauntlet, take the stones from different points in time, with use of the Quantum Realm. Another rumour states that it will either be Professor Hulk or Captain Marvel who wields the gauntlet. In terms of getting the stones before Thanos does, I have a theory. It should be noted this theory is not based on any solid evidence or proof (just me fanboying), but I think it's possible that Stark and Lang go back to the battle of New York. They are aware of what the sceptre holds within it, the mind stone and they can rebuild Vision without the mind stone, giving him the black and white appearance we have seen in the comics and was also hinted at after Thanos removes the mind stone. In regards to the space stone, this has been one of the most prevalent infinity stones throughout the MCU, appearing in several films. Cap could be sent back to the events of the first Captain America movie, removing the tesseract. By doing this, Red Skull would not be teleported to Vormir and would not be protecting the Soul Stone, therefore no one would know the location of the Soul Stone. Black Widow and Hulk could be sent back to the events of the Doctor Strange movie, informing him of the situation and the need for the time stone. As for the reality stone, we would probably see Thor return to the events of Thor: The Dark World to retrieve the Aether from either Jane Foster or from the Collector instead of allowing Hogun to give it to him in the post credits scene. The power stone would probably see Rocket and Nebula return to the events of the first Guardians Of The Galaxy movie and pluck the stone away before it gets dropped off with the Nova Corp on Xandar.

I hope you have enjoyed this look at some of the things we may be able to expect going forward in the MCU, especially Avengers 4. As I say, all of this is guesswork and fanboying, but hopefully some of this comes true. I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks for reading.
