Lately, a lot of people in the social circles have been praising Keanu Reeves. Some of us do not really understand the idolization of celebrities such as myself. I never found celebrities to be good idols, because tabloids and media make a cover of who that person really is, and the chances of meeting those celebrities are pretty slim. So I have been racking my brain to understand why Keanu Reeves is such as big deal, and here is what I found.
Who is Keanu Reeves? For those who live under a rock, and don't know who he is... well, he is an American-Canadian actor. He has been in big blockbuster films such as Point Break and John Wick and of course, The Matrix. Now that you know who he is let's move on to why he is the big deal.
Reeves had set up a charity to raise money for cancer. He has supported SickKids, PETA and Stand Up to Cancer. The reason for his involvement in those charities is because his sister had been battling leukemia for a long time, and he felt that he needed to help out the charities which are cancer-related. Not only that but he has bee giving away large sums of money to charities around the world. By large sums, I mean millions, he makes millions so he also gives millions. He apparently has been giving millions to children's hospitals. Reeves also does not attach his name to any of the donations he has given. He believes he does not need the credit. This simple action makes him more humble than any other celebrity. I am sure there are many celebrities that give money anonymously, but so far his 75 million dollars of donations hit the target at a whole new level. Cheatsheet.com says that "Reeves is worth $100 million, and can afford a fleet of expensive cars to get around New York City, yet he chooses to ride the subway just like us. Taking the subway is a testament in itself to how humble he is. The Canadian actor has also been caught giving up his seat to tired commuters. "Very few people, celebrity or otherwise, would do that." There was even a video showing this compassion coming from a celebrity. He shows that just because he is an actor does not mean he is better than the rest of us common folk, and for that we should be on our feet applauding this man.
Next, is what other celebrities have to say about him. Yes, he is part Canadian, but there are only good things about him. Everyone that has ever worked with him says he is one of the nicest people, and that he is easy to get along with. He even knows how to get rid of ridiculous rumors without looking like a complete tool.
"Reeves dismissed rumors that he and David Geffen had gotten married, saying he was flattered people thought he was in the same league as Geffen."
“For a while, people were saying that David Geffen and I had gotten married. That just blew me away. Not because they thought I was gay, but that they thought I could land a guy that hot,” he said.
In another source, it says that when taking pictures with women, he does not touch them, which I am sure most of them would like that, but it shows his respect for women.
Canada may have given the world Justin Bieber, but we have also given Keanu Reeves the nicest celebrity, and the most generous celebrity ever.
