Who's Your Daddy? - 11 Characters Who Didn't Have an Answer
As proven by these 11 characters, one major reveal that we see in film and TV is: who's my daddy?
When we go to movies, or rent/buy them - it's usually because we think there is an engaging story that we'd be interested in watching. That's the essence of movies and TV basically - creating a story that draws people in. Sometimes we don't know all of the twists and turns that a movie or show will take us, but the build up to the reveal or answers makes it all the more memorable.
One of the major reveals that we see in film and TV is answering the age old question: who's my daddy? Sometimes it's the question we never saw coming, sometimes it's something we assume is going to be asked, or perhaps it's the basic premise of the movie or show that we're engaged in. Regardless of how the question and reveal are built into entertainment, it's definitely a huge part of some of our favorite films and tv show. Here are the top 10 character who wondered "Who's my daddy?"
Alec - Continuum
The question of discovering who Alec's father is a major part of the storyline of this show. Continuum is built on the premise of a cop (Kiera Cameron) who leaps through time following a group of terrorists who plan to alter the direction of the future. Kiera befriends Alec, and the two partner to try to stop the terrorists as well as discover the truth of who his father is.

FATHER: Escher - Head of Piron Corporation
Solara - Book of Eli
The Book of Eli is one of my favorite movies, it's a great story and Eli (Denzel Washington) is a beast. In the movie we meet a young woman who is in the 'employment' of Carnegie. Carnegie orders Solara (Mila Kunis) to seduce Eli, only to have the two befriend one another. Solara explains that Carnegie is not her real father - now whether that's just a trope against the apparent religious overtones of the movie is yet to be seen, as there is no given resolution to this question for her. Here's hoping for a sequel.

FATHER: Unknown
Peter Maximoff - X-Men: Days of Future Past
Peter Maximoff (a.k.a. Quicksilver) from the X-Men franchise of films, stated in Days of Future Past that his father could control metals which was a hint at who his father was. Ultimately at the time Peter didn't actually know the truth until he met his father and started putting the pieces together.

FATHER: Magneto - Erik Lehnsherr
Thea Queen - Arrow
Thea was raised as the daughter of Moira and Robert Queen, although she actually had a different father. It takes us a while to learn that truth until after Moira goes on trial for The Undertaking of Starling City. Moira had an affair with Thea's actual father (which Robert ultimately knew about). This reveal led Thea to question everything in her life and chose to distance herself from Oliver and everyone else she was close to.
WARNING: SPOILER BELOW
FATHER: Ra's al Ghul (Malcolm Merlyn)
John Locke - Lost
John Locke is one of my favorite TV characters from one of my favorite shows, Lost. We spend the beginning of the first season learning to love and question (sometimes) the actions of Locke. Near the end of the first season, we watch in flashback to Locke meeting his dad for the first time. Loche's mother got pregnant when she was fifteen by a man who turned out to be a con artist (the same con-artist who caused James Ford's parents to kill themselves - which he vowed vengeance for).
WARNING: SPOILER BELOW
FATHER: Anthony Cooper
John Connor - Terminator
John Connor (various actors) is introduced to us in the future as the leader of the human resistance to Skynet (an artificial intelligence) in 2029. A terminator is sent back in time to kill John and his mother in an attempt to alter the future and stop john from becoming such a strong opposition to Skynet's control. John learns of this plan and sends one of his soldiers back to try to stop the assassination attempt.

FATHER: Kyle Reese
Wesley - Wanted
Wesley (James McAvoy) is a man that hates his life, but one day he is approached by Fox (Angelina Jolie) and she tells him that his father was the greatest assassin in the world, and was killed by a man named Cross. Amidst a shootout, Fox and Wesley escape to the Chicago Fraternity's hideout. The Fraternity is an international guild of assassins who execute targets assigned by fate itself. Wesley joins the guild in an attempt to avenge his fathers death (only to learn that everything he believes is a lie).

FATHER: Cross
Philippe and Louis - The Man in the Iron Mask
The Man in the Iron Mask is probably my favorite Musketeer film, as it follows four aging Musketeers: Aramis, Athos, Porthos & D'Artagnan as they must unravel the truth of the man in the iron mask. The man behind the mask is revealed to be King Louis' twin brother, and he was imprisoned in an attempt for Louis rather than Phillipe to gain the throne.

FATHER: D'Artagnan
Luke and Leia - Star Wars (Original Trilogy)
Probably the most widely known story line that revolves around the question of learning who their dad is. Luke and Leia were two characters who didn't even know that they were siblings until 3 movies into the series, but Luke learns the truth in one of the most melodramatic (and mis-quoted) scenes in movie history.
WARNING: SPOILER BELOW
FATHER: Darth Vader (Anakin Skywalker)
Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Another Star Wars character who doesn't know who their father is. Seeing as the familial bonds are a huge trope in the entire Star Wars franchise, it's understandable to have it pop up in the newest iterations. We learn the truth about Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens but we are led to assume some things about Rey, and hopefully we will learn the truth in the upcoming Episode VIII.
WARNING: SPOILER BELOW
FATHER: Unknown RUMOR: Luke SkywalkerRUMOR: Grand-daughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi
Peter Quill-Starlord - Guardians of the Galaxy
One of the best Marvel films released to date, Guardians of the Galaxy started a fresh story that builds off of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and his search for glory, to ultimately learn who his father is. Peter was left on earth with his dying mother (thanks dad!) and shortly after her death, Peter is taken by a mercenary at the request of his father, but is never actually delivered to him. Hopefully we'll discover the truth in the sequel coming soon.
WARNING: SPOILER BELOW
FATHER: Unknown *so far*
