Who Will Be Captain Marvel?

So, for just a bit of fun, I'm here to name some actresses that may be overlooked from their small screen ventures.

With Phase 2 wrapping up this summer, many are looking forward to the MCU's Phase 3 additions with Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in the mix. While we know bits and pieces about Captain America: Civil War (May 2016), and the casting of Spider-man is all the rage right now (due out July 2017), I'm still extremely curious as to who will play the lead in Marvel's first solo female movie, Captain Marvel?

With fan favorites such as Katee Sackhoff, Yvonne Strahovski, and Emily Blunt as some of the names being thrown around, this announcement is probably way, way off...

So, for just a bit of fun, I'm here to name some actresses that may be overlooked from their small screen ventures.

Jennifer Morrison

Age: 36

Height: 5' 5"

Already on the Disney docket, playing the lead role on "Once Upon a Time," Morrison is a familiar face having been in both movies and TV for a while now (maybe most recognizably from "House M.D."). While not my favorite of choices, I could she her being successful in the role of Captain Marvel. Ironically, she has also voiced fellow Avenger, Wasp, in the children's show "The Super Hero Squad."

Rachel Nichols

Age: 35

Height: 5' 10"

Having played roles in such projects as Alias (2001), Criminal Minds (2005), The Amityville Horror (2005), G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) and Conan the Barbarian (2011), she most recently played the lead role of Kiera Cameron on the Canadian science fiction series Continuum (2012) and proved herself worthy of that lead role. Both physically capable of pulling off fight scenes and confident enough for Carol Danvers, Nichols could be a great pick for Marvel's Captain Marvel.

Linda Cardellini

Age: 39

Height: 5' 3"

Cardellini has had many roles in TV over the past few years, such as "New Girl" (2014), "Mad Men" (2013-2015), and "Bloodline" (2015); though, she may be most well known as Lindsay Weir from "Freaks and Geeks" (1999-2000). Captain Marvel could be the very role to bring her into the limelight and show her true colors as an actress. I don't have much to base that on other than speculation, but I would give her a chance.

Elizabeth Mitchell

Age: 45

Height: 5' 9"

Maybe most famous for her role as Juliet Burke in "Lost," her more recent endeavors in "Revolution," "Once Upon a Time," and "Crossing Lines" have shown her potential as a versatile and solid actress. Depending on if they stick to the comic orgins, with Carol Danvers being around Nick Fury's age, Mitchell could pull off the more seasoned Captain Marvel well.

Anna Torv

Age: 35

Height: 5' 8"

Australian actress, known for "The Secret Life of Us" (2001), "Heavenly Sword" (2007), and "Fringe" (2008) where she plays FBI special agent Olivia Dunham. After watching her on Fringe, I have no doubt she would make a fantastic Carol Danvers. With an unreserved confidence and genuine ability for communicating emotional tension, Torv is my top pick on this list (and I'm only into season 2 of Fringe).
