How can a sitcom come back after 11 years of its cancellation and still be a big hit?

Will & Grace is a sitcom that first aired in 1998 on NBC telling a story of a different kind of romance: a gay man and his ex-girlfriend's weird friendship. Yes, very weird and sometimes dysfunctional. It was bold to bring a topic like that, especially in the 90's. Were people really ready for that on TV? The answer is NO. But they did it anyways, and as a result, here they are again, in 2017, with a big come back, better than before.

The plot is about Will (Eric McCormack), a gay lawyer who lives with his best friend Grace (Debra Messing), an interior designer, who was his college girlfriend back in the days. The story also brings Jack (Sean Hayes), Will's friend who helped him come out, and Karen (Megan Mullally), a socialite, very rich, alcoholic, who works as Grace's assistant. They are together what we've been calling the "Fabulous 4". Those for together on screen really make magic happen.

The choice for the cast was perfect. The chemistry between all of them is incredible. We can see that from season one to the new season, even after 11 years without being in the same room together to shoot something after the show was cancelled, the relationship is so real. And it’s fun to see the pair up between the characters through the episodes: sometimes Will and Jack, Karen and Grace; or Grace and Jack and Karen and Will; or the most usual Will and Grace, and Karen and Jack; and the best of all, all of them together.

But this show is not only about the funny cast. The theme is great, so current and has educated so many people over the years about the rights, fears, wishes, pain, doubts of the LGBT community all over the world. In a very funny and phenomenal way the writers make sure that the message is passed through the generations about love and tolerance. The show in so many situations will make you LOL and COL (cry out loud) because we can either relate to a situation or we know someone who does. This show is about hope to live in a more respectful and tolerant place.

Since it's first season, the show has won a total of 16 EMMY's, in which each cast member has won one for their roles, and so many nominations on for Golden Globes, SAG awards and others. And let's not forget to mention all amazing guest stars they had along the seasons like Madonna, Britney Spears, Alec Baldwin, Cher, Michal Douglas, J-Lo, Macaulay Culkin, Jack Black, Matt Damon, and many others.

Although the show on the first run received a total of 27 Golden Globe nominations, they never took home a single one. Odds are that with the new season, 2018 might finally be their year to be acknowledged by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, for the show has had great reviews from them.

James Burrows, the director of every single episode of the show since its first run has won many awards for his work with the hit sitcom. Guest stars like Bobby Cannavaly (Vince, Will’s boyfriend) and Lesley Jordan (Beverly Lesley, Karen’s friend/nemesis) both won EMMY’s for their roles as guest stars. Big names like the great Debby Reynolds and Gene Wilder were also guest stars in the show, both nominated for EMMY’s, with a big deserved win to Gene Wilder.

This show has been a great success and what we can expect from this new season? Many many more awards and nominations, with special shout out to Megan Mullally on her impeccable and flawless performance on the last episode of the new season "Rosario's Quincenera".

If you haven't watched the show yet, I highly recommend it. It's so worth it. You will not regret it.
