The Ones I Saw!

Get Out - 5 claps - Hands down best movie of the year. Inventive and scary and socially relevant. Amazingly well thought out and implemented.

Logan - 5 slow claps - A hardened glimpse into the life of one of our favorite Mutants. Gory and necessary. Such a good film and enduring ending. Audience was crying and it felt complete.

Thor: Ragnarok - 4 Fast Claps

Heavy material layered over pure hilarity. Fun and charming while it could have been violently dark. There was that middle of a Marvel movie unnecessary scene or two but so very well done.

Split - No Claps - I was not able to move. 5 Claps otherwise.

No spoilers but O M G. It built slowly, gained momentum, twisted what you though and then ATTACKED. There were painful parts but such a successful movie and a build up to a movie I am STOKED about seeing, I was left speechless for several minutes and just stared at Kelli. Wonderful movie.

Spider-Man: Homecoming - 4 Claps

Thankfully, a full on Spider-Man movie which can stand on its own. Fun and imaginative and well paced. Possibly a little too quick to introduce tech but the little surprise at the end put the breaks on that. And the final minute re-introduction had the audience cheering.

GOTG 2 - 3 claps

Definitely not the best Marvel of the year. Felt a little like too much like the first and had to constantly remind you of previously made scenes to keep the plot together. Good altogether and needed for the Universe.

Alien Covenant - 2 claps

Note for this one. I watched it in flight so it was edited. It was an ok showing based upon the previous showings. Not really genre changing, felt like it was just a bridge from Prometheus to the next installment. It got us there but may have ruined it for some watchers.

Wonder Woman - 4 claps

The beginning and end were amazing. The middle—don’t hate me—left much to be desired. DC also has to fix their situation with villains. We have had the same one basically for the last three movies. If nothing else, this was a much needed female superhero movie. Great concept overall. Just a bit long.

Cars 3 - 3 claps

But this needs to be it. It was cute and fun but this needs to be the swan song. Was a bit darker this time and I saw several young children trying to understand the capitalism commentary.

Kidnap - 4 slow claps

LOTS of hate for this movie and some legitimate plot holes. But this was a bare knuckle tightly wound fight between a woman and her stolen child Personally, I stayed the road with her and felt her every emotion. I personally loved how tightly wound this movie ended up being. You wouldn’t let your baby go either.

Baby Driver - 3 fast claps

I’m gonna break out from the mainstream here. It wasn’t that great. It was bearable but ok. Seemed to start strong and then crumble apart a little bit. I did enjoy it as it’s own creation though.

Wonder - 4 claps

Ok, it was intended to be a tear jerker and request for ticket sales. I happened to love it though. Horrible parents create horrible kids. Not overly sweet, but just enough.

Jumanji - 3 fast claps

Pleasantly surprised at how funny this was and how interesting the plot was. It was 1/2 hour too long but very fun for the most part.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 4 fast claps

Ok, y’all can all hate me but I liked it. I watched the first Star Wars franchises as a child and watched my daughter watch these as a child. Yes there were plot holes and questions were answered that some didn’t like. They are getting more into "how can we make this more profitable," of course they are. That’s what Hollywood does. Other than one scene, I fully enjoyed this outing.

A Dog's Purpose- 3 slow claps

Heavily invested into trying to make you cry but moderately successful. Pretty fun throughout and tense at the end. Came under fire post production by a tainted video stirred up by the evil which is TMZ.

Resident Evil: Final Chapter - 4 fast claps

Sorry, not sorry. It was what I wanted. Much better than the last two, a pull back to the first movie which tied the franchise up nicely. Happened to be that I loved ‘most’ of the franchise though I should probably be embarrassed about that.

LEGO Batman Movie - 4 fast claps

This is the closest DC has had to a good hero movie in quite some time It was easily watchable and SO MUCH FUN. Surprising twists and a fast pace made it a pretty amazing and fun movie.

Beauty and the Beast - 4 claps

Good movie and beautiful visuals. One of my top movies of the year. Super fun! There was a good amount of social commentary as well.

Fifty Shades Darker - 1 clap

I hadn’t seen the first movie or read the first book so being lost I received the message, "if you ask me another question about this movie I will kill you in this theater." A bit lost but the ex’s plot was interesting but the movie had far more downs than ups.

Fist Fight - Maybe one clap

Had it’s funny parts but I left the room for a good chunk of it. Wasn’t awesome throughout. Not the worst though.

The Shack - 3 claps

Would have gotten more if it had just proclaimed it was a Christian movie. It was like they were trying to get you to the movie and then apologize for it throughout. The characters were good and the plot was good and I can’t IMAGINE what a dad in that situation would be going through. I personally thought the concept of god being who he needed at that time was well executed. It’s still ok to have Christian movies and admit to what you are.

Kong Skull Island - 2 claps

To me, not well executed or easy to watch I’ve already forgotten the plot other than Kong was actually kinda good guy that would protect SOME of them. Alyssa enjoyed and that was enough for me.

Belko Experiment - 3 claps

Good movie which could have been way better. Loved the concept and especially the ending. Some of the gore could have been swapped with character development and it would have been a better movie as a whole.

Life - I’ll just give it a leg slap

All wrong, great cast used badly. Awful script, tried to be the original Alien and EVERYONE was hoping to have a tie in to another franchise. Nope. Completely dissatisfied with the entire movie Kelli and I both hated it from beginning to end.

Ghost in the Shell - 1 clap

And it only got that because of the action scenes. That, at least, was good. All the rest was completely boring attempts to play to a sci fi audience and not doing so well.

The Mountain Between Us - ZERO claps

I pulled for the dog. Love the actors but literally could only find myself pulling for the dog. What a waste of a good potential. Hopefully the book was better.

The Emoji Movie - Abstain

I slept through it. I didn’t hear anyone who liked it. They could have called it "the poop emoji."

There were many I didn’t see that I would like to. What were your favorites?
