It looks like The Flash is adding more speedsters to its Season 3 roster with news of Kid Flash being confirmed by a new promotional image released online. Within the promotional image, it is a clear depiction of actor Keiynan Lonsdale as Kid Flash in a suit identical to that of his most popular iteration of DC' Comics. But despite being loyal to the DC' Comics vision of Kid Flash, the suit's color scheme may have more depth lying within the mythos of The Flash. Along with the promotional image of Keiynan Lonsdale portraying Kid Flash in Season 3, another image from the set of The Flash was released by a private media outlet, spotting another speedster on the set of The Flash. No one knows who this new speedster is but it's safe to assume that Wally West's Kid Flash and this unidentified speedster are present within the Flash-verse due to the Flashpoint universe that's prepared to be explored during Season 3 of The Flash.

However, there are a few things that need to be explained before continuing. Within the Flashpoint universe, the timeline of events has been altered by one major change which sets forth a chain reaction on the entire universe, resulting in a world where everything has changed. And within that universe, some unexpected individuals become superheroes while others take on villainous agendas. As to how that connects to The Flash is because the version of Earth-1 that was explored during Season 1 and 2 no longer exists. During the Season 2 Finale of The Flash, Barry Allen went back in time to stop his mother's murder. In doing so, Barry Allen was the one to set off the chain reaction which will see the Flashpoint universe come to be during Season 3.

Now with Barry Allen ultimately changing the progression of events set to take place up to his own time, he'll return to his appropriate time to find that he's no longer in the world he left behind. That world will be the Flashpoint world, or Flashpoint universe as you'd call it. Within this universe, some of Barry's allies will become the villains of Central City while other heroes and speedsters will rise to the occasion to defend the city, and there's also the possibility that a larger populous of the city could follow villainous paths rather than taking on heroic mantles. No one knows what the Flashpoint universe will hold in Season 3 of The Flash but with the new set image of Keiynan Lonsdale suited up alongside another unidentified speedster spoiling the reveal, we may have a clue to figuring out what the protagonist-antagonist dynamic of the Flashpoint universe will be when Barry Allen returns to his respective time on The Flash.

Barry Allen in prison

Going back to the image Barry saw of the future when traveling to the past, the image of Barry Allen in prison seen during his trip through the Speed-Force nexus could have been foreshadowing what's to come for his character in the upcoming season. There may be a situation that Barry Allen can't talk himself out of or in the likelier probability, Barry Allen of the Flashpoint Universe is in fact a criminal and the real Barry Allen inadvertently gets himself arrested by showing himself to the public; not knowing the Barry Allen of Flashpoint is actually a criminal. Could this image from the set of The Flash which is currently filming Season 3 depict the instance wherein Barry Allen is taken in and sent to prison? He looks to be on the run, only time will tell.

But going back to the increasing roster of speedsters on The Flash. In the alternate timeline of the Flashpoint universe, a different version of the world will be presented which will feature new heroes like Kid Flash and potentially a different version of the Flash. Along with this new world set to be explored, many more speedsters could find their way onto The Flash in the upcoming season. Here are a few predictions of which speedsters will arrive on The Flash during Season 3.

Hunter Zolomon as Black Flash

Last season, we were introduced to Hunter Zolomon a.k.a. Zoom and by the end of the season, Zoom was taken away by the Time-wraiths, sporting a new look similar to Black Flash as the Time-wraiths drained the life from Zoom. Despite being taken away by the Time-wraiths, it probably isn't the last time we'll see Hunter Zolomon as he was sharing a striking resemblance to the Black Flash of DC' Comics, who'll probably reappear sometime in the near future. My prediction is for Black Flash a.k.a. Hunter Zolomon to be waiting for Barry Allen to return after fixing the timeline, wherein Black Flash will call upon Barry Allen to return with him to the Speed-Force Nexus in order to atone for Barry's misuse of the Speed-Force; still hypothetical at the moment. But aside from the possibility of Black Flash appearing in Season 3 of The Flash, we know another speedster will make a resurgence at some point after he was introduced during the Season 2 Finale of The Flash.

Jay Garrick, the Flash of Earth-3

John Wesley Shipp, who portrayed Henry Allen for the entirety of Season One and Two was sadly killed by Zoom during the penultimate episode of Season 2, but John Wesley Shipp wasn't done with The Flash there. Shipp reappeared during the finale as Jay Garrick, the Flash of Earth-3. And while we can't make any solid predictions for when John Wesley Shipp will return as Jay Garrick a.k.a. the Flash, we may see Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp) at some point within the Flashpoint universe.

In the Flashpoint Universe, Barry Allen has saved his mother from being murdered, inadvertently saving his father from going to prison as well which reasons out that John Wesley Shipp could return as Henry Allen during Season 3 of The Flash as the Flashpoint arc is explored in-depth. But on the far-off chance that John Wesley Shipp is returning to The Flash as the speedster Jay Garrick, it's possible that Henry Allen could be the residing speedster of Earth-1 as Wally West a.k.a. Kid Flash fills the antagonist role on the series.

Wally West a.k.a. Kid-Flash or Kid Reverse Flash?

As for Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), there may be more to what you can see in the new images released. Noting how he's accompanied by that speedster who resembles the Black Racer, and West's own Kid Flash outfit shares a lot of similarities with the Reverse Flash, as well as the timeline of events leading up to current day changing drastically, it's possible that Wally West's suit resembles Reverse Flash because he modeled the suit after him.

In the scenario that Eobard Thawne a.k.a. Reverse Flash decided on another manner of ruining Barry Allen's life, after Barry Allen stole the opportunity for Eobard to kill Nora Allen, Eobard Thawne could have seen the potential to ruin Barry's future by becoming the hero of his Barry's own time. In doing so, Barry Allen would wind up in a future that glorifies Eobard Thawne as a hero despite the true nature of Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash only being known to Barry Allen as everyone around him worships Eobard as a god. Surely, that experience would be just as painful to Barry Allen as losing his mother. Having to live in a universe that glorifies a man whose gone back in time just to destroy lives as a hero would definitely make Barry Allen rethink his decisions. Along with that scenario holding some plausibility, there's also potential for Eobard Thawne to have presented himself as the hero of Central City but in the background of all his good deeds, he's actually orchestrated the believable deaths of everyone close to Barry Allen, resulting in Barry Allen becoming an orphan; inadvertently ruining Barry's life.

Reverse Flash from Season 1 of The Flash.

The image of Keiynan Lonsdale suited up as a speedster in a suit similar to the Reverse Flash could mean that Reverse Flash took it upon himself to involve himself in the West's lives, in order to manipulate Wally West into becoming a speedster of his design. In the scenario that Eobard Thawne does go through the trouble of manipulating Wally West into becoming a speedster who follows him, he could easily corrupt Wally West and set Wally West a.k.a. Kid Flash on a path which sees him become a villain rather than a hero - but that's entirely speculative at the moment. The similarities in costume could mean nothing or it could mean that Wally West has modeled his suit after the Reverse Flash who may or may not be the hero of Earth-1; we won't know until more details are released in regards to Season 3 of The Flash.

The Black Racer

As for the unidentified speedster seen alongside Keiynan Lonsdale's Kid Flash, the mystery speedster appears to be sporting a suit similar to that of the Black Racer from DC' Comics. The Black Racer of DC' Comics has been a celestial entity utilized on the alien world of Apokolips wherein Darkseid resides, but we haven't seen any aspect of Darkseid's world on The Flash yet. However, in the scenario that the unidentified speedster is in fact the Black Racer, elements of his past which connect to Apokolips, Darkseid, and the New Gods will probably only be touched upon lightly to keep the context of his character short unless The Flash television series plans to shift focus in upcoming seasons to universal conflicts, not just Central City problems. And just to clarify, the Black Racer is not the same character as Black Flash.

In DC' Comics, Black Flash is the herald of Death for speedsters who abuse their Speed-Force abilities, Black Flash has no connection to the New Gods or Darkseid. But for the Black Racer, he is the incarnation of Death which was formed by one of the New Gods and has taken on several hosts to present different depictions of the Black Racer. The incarnation of the Black Racer closely associated with the Flash is a speedster who becomes the host of the Black Racer which is none other than Bart Allen or as we know him, Bartholomew Allen a.k.a. Barry Allen a.k.a. the Flash.

In the likely scenario that the above image of a speedster whom shares striking similarities to the Black Racer is in fact such, it's possible that Barry Allen of the Flashpoint Universe takes on the moniker of the Black Racer as a result of the world being flipped upside down. The identity of the Black Racer could be that of Barry Allen but there's a possibility that the character of Daniel West may be host of the Black Racer on The Flash. And while we don't know which actor is portraying the mysterious Black Racer, it's possible that Todd Lasance is portraying the Black Racer if Grant Gustin isn't playing the role of two speedsters in Season 3, including the Bart Allen iteration from DC' Comics as the Black Racer. Todd Lasance has been rumored to be in the role of a mystery speedster in Season 3, and that rumor may be validated with these new images of Lasance on set with Keiynan Lonsdale.

Jesse Wells a.k.a. Jesse Quick

There's also the possibility for Jesse Quick to appear during Season 3 of The Flash. She may not be introduced during the Flashpoint arc but Violet Beane could plausibly return as Jesse Quick of Earth-2 towards the back half of Season 3, after Barry Allen has restored the timeline to its correct course of events. We last saw Jesse Wells (Violet Beane) returning to Earth-2 on the Season 2 Finale of The Flash, but not before taking a connective jolt of electricity received from Barry after his trip through the Speed-Force Nexus. There was no follow up to that plot thread initiated in Season 2 but we can safely assume that Jesse Wells is probably going to make a surprise appearance as Jesse Quick. Who knows, maybe Jesse Quick will be the presiding speedster on Earth-1 after news of Barry's departure reaches her and she's called upon to return to Earth-1 in order to defend it as Barry Allen has defended multiple Earths in the past. That's just my theory. Or in the likelier scenario, Jesse Wells will become the speedster Jesse Quick who comes asking for Barry Allen's help after another villain of Earth-2 becomes too much of a threat to handle alone. Who would Barry Allen be to refuse such a request?

More speedsters are welcome, but not confirmed for Season 3 of The Flash.

Accounting for Jesse Wells (Violet Beane) potentially becoming her speedster counterpart, Jesse Quick in the back half of Season 3, there are still three more speedsters who could appear alongside Barry Allen in the next season. Wally West as Kid Flash, Bart Allen as the Black Racer, Hunter Zolomon as Black Flash, and the Flash of Earth-3, Jay Garrick could all appear at one point or another during Season 3 of The Flash. It's clear that Wally West will make his first appearance as Kid Flash during the Flashpoint arc of Season 3, as well as the presumed Black Racer taking center stage alongside him, but the back half of Season 3 still remains a mystery. We don't know whether or not more speedsters will be introduced in the back half of Season 3 or if speedsters like Jay Garrick and Jesse Quick are going to be utilized in future seasons of The Flash. It would be amazing to have multiple speedsters featured during Season 3 but that may be asking for too much. We just have to wait for more information and set photos to be released to find out if more speedsters are expected to appear on the upcoming season of The Flash.
