Earlier this week, a Cloak And Dagger series was announced and The Runaways was also revealed to be in development. Today, we learned that #MarvelStudios has approved of #SpiderMan joining the #Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War.

Spider-Man Joining Avengers: Infinity War

Tom Holland who played Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War is set to reprise his role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming but after that, Tom Holland will rejoin his Avengers comrades in #AvengersInfinityWar.

According to #TomHolland, his presence in Avengers: Infinity War is all due to Robert Downey Jr. and #ChrisEvans convincing the producers over at Marvel of how he will be able to hold his own in Avengers: Infinity War.

"They who convinced the Marvel [producers] wanted to be sure that I was the right person before entrusting three films over the next four years, including 'Avengers: Infinity War.'"

With Tom Holland confirming his role in Avengers: Infinity War, the news of Spider-Man having a part in the film could see some drastic changes being made to the script.

Cosmic Side Of The Marvel Universe Explored Further In Thor: Ragnarok

There's no clear evidence towards what role Spider-Man could have in the film, but he may serve a purpose beyond that of a wall-crawling superhero. There's a good chance that Spider-Man will fill a role similar to that of his comic book counterpart, especialy considering the comic-heavy influences in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor: Ragnarok will follow Thor through a cosmic adventure that sees him travel to the distant planet Sakarr and come into contact with the #Grandmaster, a sentient being of the Marvel universe. The Grandmaster is one of the Elders Of The Universe and is brother to Tanaleer Tivan, otherwise known as the Collector. The Collector was first seen in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 1.

Sentient Beings In 'Thor: Ragnarok' Signify Battles on a Much Larger Scale Are Ahead

Not only will Thor compete in a battle of wits with the Grandmaster but he also has the task of defeating Hela, another deity of the Marvel universe. Hela will be invading Asgard when the fire demon, #Surtur decides it's time for Ragnarok and breaks the Bifrost protecting Asgard, allowing for Hela's demonic forces to enter the unprotected city.

Both #Hela and Surtur are sentient beings of the Marvel universe, adding more sentient beings to the catalog of Marvel characters in the MCU. And lest we forget the rumored character of Mistress Death in #ThorRagnarok as well, adding yet another sentient being to the MCU's catalog of characters.

When we consider how many sentient beings are joining Thor: Ragnarok, it's reasonable to assume Avengers: Infinity War will reintroduce several of these sentient beings again when the Avengers' battleground reaches cosmic proportions.

Thanos Will Become Omnipotent, But Who Will Stop the Mad Titan?

On the other side of that conclusion, seeing as how Avengers: Infinity War will reach some cosmic level when the Avengers confront #Thanos, the use of more cosmic beings could be necessary when dealing with a villain like Thanos.

Realistically speaking, the Avengers won't be able to defeat Thanos when he assembles the Infinity Gauntlet. And after seeing that tease of Thanos holding the completed #InfinityGauntlet, his mere possession of the gauntlet means he's ultimately defeated the Avengers. Once he has the gauntlet completed, Thanos will become omnipotent, making the Avengers powerless to stop him.

At that point, only a sentient being with powers that surpass the Infinity Gauntlet will be able to stop Thanos's plan for universal destruction, which is why the Infinity War of Marvel comics could be foreshadowing the introduction of two sentient beings who'll make a dramatic appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Infinity War (Earth-616) Event of Marvel Comics

In the Infinity War event of Marvel comics — when the Avengers were captured by Thanos — Spider-Man saved the team with the help of the Thing. After closer inspection however, it is revealed that upon learning of Thanos assembling the Infinity Gauntlet, Master Order, Lord Chaos and other sentient beings including Galactus, Eternity, Kronos, Mistress Love and Master Hate banded together to put an end to Thanos.

To do so, #MasterOrder and #LordChaos possessed the bodies of Spider-Man and the Thing to rescue the Avengers, while at the same time making a final play against Thanos.

We shouldn't forget that Spider-Man and the Thing didn't defeat Thanos alone. While Master Order and Lord Chaos possessed them, they also released the soul of #AdamWarlock from the Soul Stone, and it was he who destroyed Thanos by transmuting Thanos's body into granite.

Lord Chaos, Master Order, and Adam Warlock May Have Roles In 'Avengers: Infinity War'

Now, with the need for a cosmic being to step in when Thanos assembles the Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers: Infinity War, Master Order and Lord Chaos would be ideal candidates for that role. More characters like Galactus, Eternity, and the Living Tribunal could also believably appear.

The existence of sentient beings was teased in Doctor Strange when Baron Mordo showed he had the Staff of the Living Tribunal in his possession, which proves that sentient beings exist, it'll just require an event like the Infinity War for them to step in. At that point, characters like Adam Warlock, Master Order and Lord Chaos could make their first appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It may be too early to say, but Avengers: Infinity War may culminate with the Avengers lying in defeat as Thanos wields the completed Infinity Gauntlet for the first time. Following on, it's reasonable that Avengers: Infinity War could set up another cosmic battle in #Avengers4 with Adam Warlock and the cosmic deities Master Order and Lord Chaos at the forefront.

Lord Chaos and Master Order Need Hosts

Now that we can see how Master Order and Lord Chaos could appear in the MCU, Master Order could reasonably possess Spider-Man (Tom Holland) like his comic book counterpart. This begs the question: Which character could replace Thing/Lord Chaos? Lord Chaos possesses the body of Thing of the Fantastic Four (who can't make an appearance in the MCU), so an MCU character would need to replace Thing.

For now, we can only speculate on whether or not Master Order and Lord Chaos will enter the fray in Avengers: Infinity War. Although, the notion of Thanos holding the completed Infinity Gauntlet draws into question who could believably defeat Thanos once he has the gauntlet? This makes Master Order and Lord Chaos ideal candidates to enter the fold and intervene when Thanos gains omnipotence, since they're the only beings with abilities that surpass those of the completed Infinity Gauntlet.
