Will 'The Defenders' Have a Bigger Roster Than We Expected?

Last Friday, the Iron Fist series debuted on Netflix, introducing us to the final member of the Defenders. The Defenders series will air later this year, featuring the team of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand as they assemble to bring an end to the Hand.

Not only are the Defenders up against the Hand, they're also going to have to contend with the Hand's weapon, Black Sky. We saw the Hand prepping Elektra's transformation into Black Sky in Season 2 of Daredevil. Now, the Hand is ready to unleash their armies, and Black Sky, on New York City. It looks like the #Defenders are going to be outnumbered by the Hand.

The Defenders do have two practically indestructible warriors in #LukeCage and Danny Rand, but they won't be enough to take on the countless armies the Hand has at their disposal. Even with the help of #Daredevil and #JessicaJones, the Defenders are still outmatched. However, they wouldn't be outnumbered if more members joined the team.

With the odds stacked against them, there's a good chance the Defenders will be joined by a few more allies when it comes to fighting the Hand. Each of the Defenders have made allies during their solo adventures, so it's reasonable to assume allies like Claire Temple would join them in the face of an adversary like the Hand. They may even hold the title of Defenders themselves in that scenario.

Here are five more characters who could also become Defenders in the #TheDefenders series.

Frank Castle — The Punisher

One of the more obvious allies to join the Defenders would be Frank Castle. He formed an uneasy alliance with Daredevil and came to terms with his role as the Punisher as well. Frank Castle hasn't been invited to join the Defenders yet, but he may help them at some point. He is protecting New York after all, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Punisher come to the Defenders' aid.

Claire Temple

Claire is another obvious choice for the Defenders. She's been helping Daredevil since he first started his vigilante work, wound up helping Luke Cage in a similar way, and she just joined Danny Rand in his crusade to put an end to the Hand, so it's fair to say Claire Temple is a potential candidate for the Defenders. Claire has also been working on her fighting skills with Colleen Wing, meaning she's definitely prepared to become a Defender.

Davos

Davos was recently introduced in Iron Fist in a confusing manner. On the one hand, Davos is ally and best friend to Danny Rand; on the other, Davos is intent on making sure Danny Rand fulfill his duty to be the #IronFist. While that duty has made Davos act unsavory, he could still become a member of the Defenders.

Colleen Wing

A new ally to Danny Rand with a controversial past as a member of the Hand, Colleen Wing could also become a member of the Defenders. She's definitely capable in a fight and she's proven that her allegiances lie with Danny, which give us reason enough to believe she could also join the team.

Who else might join the Defenders?

While those characters could become members of the Defenders, they may only remain as support. However, with the odds stacked against them, the Defenders are probably going to call on all the allies they have, including the Punisher, Claire Temple, Colleen Wing, Davos, and anyone else looking to fight. Still, we'll have to wait on The Defenders to premiere to find out if the team is going to expand.
