Will Tony Stark Reveal What He Did with Cap's Shield in Spider-Man: Homecoming?

As the first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming reveals quite a bit to us, in terms of what we'll see in the film, Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man appears to be present for a few different segments in the film. Most of the scenes featuring Stark depict him alongside Peter Parker but that doesn't mean Tony Stark won't have a few scenes of his own. Stark will also be dealing with the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War.

No one is paying attention to the fact that this is the first time Tony Stark will be seen since his upsetting defeat during Civil War. The conclusion of the film seemed to provide closure to the disagreement between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers which was the center of Civil War but one thing was left unaddressed, what did Tony Stark do with Cap's shield?

What did Tony Stark do with Cap's shield?

If you recall that last fight scene between Iron Man, Bucky, and Captain America, the fight concluded with Cap immobilizing Iron Man's suit. As Cap' began walking away with Bucky, Stark (Iron Man) began to exclaim how Steve Rogers didn't deserve to carry the shield. And at that point, Steve Rogers knew Stark was right so he dropped the shield and continued to walk away with Bucky.

We can assume that Stark placed Cap's shield in a secure storage after his last bout with Cap but the shield won't be gone for too long. The shield is an iconic set piece of the Marvel universe and the MCU so its resurgence is almost certain.

Will the shield be addressed in Spider-Man: Homecoming?

The shield might not reemerge instantaneously but its whereabouts could be addressed during Spider-Man: Homecoming, seeing as how Tony Stark will be making his first appearance since his upsetting defeat in Captain America: Civil War.

Stark likely stashed Cap's shield somewhere in the Avengers HQ since it appears as if he's still utilizing the facility as his place of operations. Keeping that in mind, no one in Spider-Man: Homecoming would know that Stark has the shield. He was the only person around when Cap' left it to him so Stark is the only person who knows about the shield. Although, Stark would likely show it to someone, namely Peter Parker, in the scenario of Parker looking for inspiration to be Spider-Man. A symbol like Cap's shield would definitely help to inspire a young hero like Spider-Man, who may or may not not see the good in what he's doing, even though it's apparent to everyone around him.

The fate of Cap's shield is undetermined at the moment but at least we know Tony Stark is in possession of the shield so he might hint at having the shield during Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, there's a very small chance that Stark melted down Cap's shield and reforged the metal into another weapon - but highly unlikely to take place in the MCU.
