With Black Siren's Return To 'Arrow,' Is Oliver's Team Getting Too Big For Him (And The Show) To Handle?

This post contains spoilers for Arrow Season 5.

Since the news broke on Monday that Katie Cassidy will be returning next season as a series regular on Arrow, #LaurelLance fans have been overjoyed. This is the moment we've been hoping for since the original Laurel Lance was killed last season.

A big question on everyone's minds, though, is how #BlackSiren will be utilized next season. Though there is the possibility that Black Siren will be next year's villain — and a possible thorn in Oliver's side — that would mean she would, at some point, need to be taken out of the equation. Bringing Katie Cassidy back only to have her leave at the end of Season 6 isn't going to make the fans very happy.

When Black Siren appeared earlier this season, Oliver tried to get through to her because he believed there was still good in her. If Black Siren is reformed, it's possible she'll be joining #TeamArrow. With the recruits and the recent addition of Dinah Drake, the #Arrowcave is already filled to the brim. Is there room on the team for yet another canary?

As it is, the recruits get little screen time, and with the reintroduction of Katie Cassidy as a series regular, some characters are going to have to be seen a little less often, as there simply isn't time in 44 minutes to showcase every member of Team Arrow.

Echo Kellum is the only member of the recruits added as a series regular this season, which means Wild Dog (Rene Ramirez) and Dinah Drake could be looking at a departure later on this season, especially if Black Siren switches teams from evil to good.

In Season 1, Arrow was a team of three (Oliver, Diggle and Felicity), which allowed for subplots with Oliver's family and friends. The team has changed over the seasons, but functioned at its best with five members at varying times: Oliver, Diggle, Felicity, Speedy and Black Canary. A team of seven members could be a bit overwhelming.

Regardless of how this will play out, Katie Cassidy is returning full-time to Arrow next season. Who goes and who stays will be up in the air until Season 6.
