As all the attention seems to be focused on the soon-to-be released Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, there have been some new announcements regarding the third element of the DC trinity: Wonder Woman.

Production has begun with the help of Patty Jenkins (The Killing), and it is expected to be the first solo film within the new DC Cinematic Universe. Business Wire revealed that to commemorate the start of production Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed the headlining cast.

Gal Gadot

Although she is relatively new to Hollywood, Gadot has made her claim to fame with her work on the Fast & Furious franchise. She has also taken it upon herself to honor the Wonder Woman character with her film and portray the heroine in which she is a strong, titular character which will undoubtedly set the stage for future female based superhero films.

Confirmed Role: Wonder Woman (obviously)

Chris Pine

Pine has been a staple in Hollywood since his breakout as Kirk in the Star Trek reboot. Since then he's been tagged as one of the hottest rising stars, and he's set to continue that trend as the love interest, Capt. Steve Trevor, opposite Wonder Woman.

Confirmed Role: Steve Trevor

Robin Wright

The seasoned veteran, Robin Wright, has been all over Hollywood. Most recently known for her role on House of Cards as Claire Underwood, Wright is a brilliant actress, and has an uncanny ability to show an impressive range of characters

Potential Roles: Queen Hippolyta - Artemis - Hera

Danny Huston

The comicbook/superhero film is nothing new to Huston, as you probably remember him in his role as William Stryker in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and of course his portrayal of Marlow in 30 Days of Night. Huston is another seasoned veteran to add to the ranks. Safe bet on Huston bringing his Antagonistic side out in Wonder Woman.

Potential Roles: Doctor Psycho - General Phil Darnell (Blankenship)

Davis Thewlis

Thewlis has been in several films over the last couple decades, notably the Harry Potter series as well as The Theory of Everything, and the upcoming Tom Hardy film Legend. Thewlis has an extensive collection of roles to build out of, so it really is up in the air as to who he could be playing: villain, hero or bystander.

Potential Roles: Brian Elliot - Sphinx (voice) - Sen. Brad Covington

Elena Anaya

Spanish actress Elena Anaya has been circulating Hollywood for the past 20 years, accumulating several film credits along the way across various genres, most recently noted for her role in Van Helsing. I'd expect to see Anaya play a femme fatale as she has proven her ability to do so in her film history.

Potential Roles: Circe - Aphrodite - Morgaine Le Fay

Lucy Davis

Probably best known for her role as Dawn Tinsley on BBC's The Office - Davis has been slowly building a great reputation in Hollywood as a solid comic presence appearing in Shaun of the Dead, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Garfield 2 (A Tail of Two Kitties). It's a fairly safe bet to assume that Davis will fill a comic relief role to bring some levity to an assumed heavy film.

Potential Roles: Cathy Perkins - Stacy Macklin (Lady Lunar) - an original character

Ewen Bremner

The Scottish actor, Bremner has been in several incredible films over the years, most well known for his roles in Trainspotting, Snowpiercer, Snatch, The Rundown and Black Hawk Down. Bremner could a role of nearly any variety, and it will surely be interesting to see how he shows up.

Potential Roles: Terrence Sloan - Jonny Double - Hermes

Said Taghmaoui

Originally, Taghmaoui dropped out of school to become a boxer, ranking number 2 in France in his category. Eventually he met Mathieu Kassovitz and became a force in French cinema as well as American film recently. He is probably most widely known for his roles in Hidalgo, The Kite Runner, Traitor, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Three Kings.

Possible Roles: Doctor Fate - Commander Amar Khan
