X-Men: Apocalypse: Comic Book Origins of The Four Horsemen

We do also have new additions of many X-Men that will have a lasting existence within the X-Men universe. X-Men: Apocalypse will be introducing the well known characters of Scott Summers/Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Storm, Angel, Psylocke, and Jubilee, who may specifically have roles in X-Men: Apocalypse for them to have a solid lead-in as an established team in the next chapter of the X-Men franchise. Apart from the 'X-Men' making their first appearances in "X-Men: Apocalypse", we also have the inclusion of Apocalypse/En Sabah Nur's Four Horsemen' being introduced in the film.

As Bryan Singer is the director of X-Men: Apocalypse, in his interpretation of the Four Horsemen, he has placed a few interesting choices in the roles of those Horsemen. The comic-book history for which Apocalypse's Four Horsemen are based upon have many different iterations of the Horsemen being portrayed by different mutants of the X-Men universe. Bryan Singer's iteration of the Four Horseman has Apocalypse choosing Storm, Erik Lenscher/Magneto, Psylocke, and Angel. These were some interesting choices for the Four Horsemen, but there could be more reason for why these characters were chosen; it could possibly have to do with all the Horsemen having a history as X-Men in their comic-book histories. However, the decision to choose these X-Men related characters as the Four Horsemen was a bad idea on Bryan Singer's behalf. There are plenty of other Marvel' characters that could have been absolutely extraordinary on-screen as one of the Four Horsemen. Here are my picks for which comic-book iteration of the Four Horsemen should have been utilized in "X-Men: Apocalypse(2016)".

1. Caliban. The second modern incarnation of the Horseman of "Death", Caliban became "Hellhound" upon agreeing to be Apocalypse's slave. Originally, Caliban was a member of the Morlocks, the underground society of mutants. But after joining with Apocalypse, he was further mutated with the power given to him by the celestial, Apocalypse. To where the power transformed "Caliban" into "Hellhound".

2. Hulk. The Hulk wouldn't be able to appear in "X-Men: Apocalypse" as the property rights to his character belong to Marvel and Disney. However, Hulk's comic-book history has him portraying the Horsemen of War at one point, to where Hulk is even able to stop Juggernaut in mid-rampage; at the request of Apocalypse to test the War Horseman Hulk's power. Property rights aside, if the X-Men had to contend with an enhanced Hulk, controlled by Apocalypse, there might not be a member of the X-Men capable of restraining the Hulk. Except for Wolverine that is.

3. Wolverine. He has also had a stint as a Horseman for Apocalypse in his comic-book history. Apocalypse captures Wolverine, turns him into the Horseman Death, then sets him on his old team of the X-Men. As Death, Wolverine attacks the X-Men before they can find out that Wolverine is Death. At the point in time, in which Wolverine becomes the Horsemen Death, he has lost the adamantium in his bones after Magneto liquefied the metal out of Wolverine's bones. So Wolverine as the Horseman Death uses a sword instead of his iconic bone claws or metal claws. However, to make Wolverine stronger as the Horsemen Death, Apocalypse commands his disciple, Genesis to rebond Wolverine's skeleton to adamantium once again. Upon succeeding, Wolverine is able to break free from Apocalypse's control but is not mentally competent after their confrontation. Wolverine reverts to a feral form for a time, until he's able to gain control of his senses once again.

4. Gambit/Remy Lebau. Gambit has been a prominent member of the X-Men as well as a type of renegade in the Marvel universe. Gambit's comic-book history has him associating with the likes of Mister Sinister, which would eventually lead to the introduction of Gambit to Apocalypse, for Gambit to become the next Horsemen of Death.

5. Daken/Akihiro. The japanese son of Wolverine, known as Daken has also been a part of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse in his comic-book history. However, Daken's incarnation of a Horsemen came to be quite differently than that of his father's, Wolverine. Daken was dead at the time when the Apocalypse Twins rose to conquer, but he was resurrected by them to become one of their Horsemen. Daken was joined by other dead Marvel characters as well. Banshee, Sentry, and Grim Reaper were all resurrected alongside Daken as Apocalypse's Four Horsemen.

6. Mister Sinister. A loyal disciple to Apocalypse, once became a Horsemen for Apocalypse in his comic-book history. Most of Mister Sinister's association with Apocalypse has them set as partners, but with the possibility of Apocalypse turning Mister Sinister into one of his Four Horsemen, he may be brainwashed as a Horsemen of Apocalypse.
