This is my first post on Vocal. My name is Wasif Chowdhury, and I am an aspiring actor and writer. I will mainly be reviewing movies as I work in cinema and I do get free tickets. I am also going to be reviewing TV shows that I binge-watched or am currently watching. I will only do movies and TV shows that came out recently, and occasionally I will write reviews on old movies and TV shows too. I will also be reviewing anime and games, but not on a regular basis.

As the X-Men franchise came to its abundant conclusion, it did not seem to please any of its fans, including me. X-Men: Dark Phoenix was about Jean Grey, probably one of the most loved characters of the series. This movie is where they show how she got her powers and her inner demons and regrets. This also shows how she broke the X-Men family and threatened to destroy the world.

This was probably one of the most disappointing movies this year. It was said they would lose between $100 million and $120 million at the box office as of June 9, but the movie itself had cost an estimated $350 million. I thought this movie would reach a really good conclusion, as this is a movie most people were waiting for.

Simon Kinberg proves himself a capable director, but the beloved "Dark Phoenix Saga" failed miserably. A movie that should have been two, or even three, movies is crammed into a little over 90 minutes. It did have its moments in the film where you would be amazed, but it's not worth buying a cinema ticket. This movie does deliver the franchise's best fight scenes, and the entire train sequence was probably the best moment of the movie thus far, but it doesn't elevate the ratings of this movie. I believe this movie is better than some other X-Men movies like Last Stand or Apocalypse, but it fails in comparison to X-Men 2.

The cast themselves did a really good job in this film, but the major turn off was Sophie Turner, as this movie was supposed to make her stand out from everyone else, but as we never saw this version of the character, this negates much of what she does. Overall, she does put up a good performance. I think the best performance of the whole movie was Michael Fassbender's, as he was the only one that showed some effort. If you look at the tweets about the movie, then all you see is that people only rated Michael Fassbender in the whole movie.

So, what went wrong you ask?

The movie itself was okay, but that does not justify that this film cost $350 million. We were not expecting as much because of the recent merge of Disney/Fox, but nonetheless, the movie lacked any sort of "epicness," and for this, I say this movie should get an overall rating of 2/5. Don't get me wrong, though this movie has its good points and moments you will enjoy, this is ultimately too average to matter. I really do hope Marvel Studios does resurrect this great saga to its shining light once more, as this X-Men franchise finale did not please anyone.

As this is the first review I made, please do support this and please comment on improvements. I don't know if you can comment on people's stories, but if you have suggestions on how to improve my content in terms of grammar, punctuation or anything that will help produce great content, please suggest it. I would like it if you give me suggestions on what movies to make reviews about. The next movie I will be reviewing is Men in Black: International.
