You'll Never Guess Which X-Man Got a Nod in the Latest Image From 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

Of course, this particular nod makes real sense in 'X-Men: Apocalypse.'

The social media campaign for X-Men: Apocalypse is in full swing, and the latest image doing the rounds is particularly cool. Check it out!

Cyclops is holding a Dazzler lp!

It's an interesting image, showing that the students of Xavier's School somehow actually have chance for some downtime in the film! The image also makes one dramatic change to canon feel very real; in X-Men: Apocalypse, Jubilee is a contemporary of Cyclops and Jean Grey.

But the real Easter egg in that image, of course, is the LP that Cyclops is holding.

Who is Dazzler?

Dazzler is a powerful mutant created by Marvel as part of a deal with Casablanca Records. She's a pretty unique character; a mutant superhero who's also a pop star, she joined up with the X-Men through the 1970s and 1980s. Her power is the ability to convert sound into light, either as devastating laser-blasts or general strobe effects. Although nowadays she's been outed as a mutant, back in the early days of the Dazzler series she had a reputation for incredible lightshows that were like nothing else in pop.

Hopeful fans have been spreading rumours that Dazzler would be in the film for quite a while, and at one point there was a lot of speculation that Fox would sign up Taylor Swift to play the character. Those rumours have been fanned into flame again, as Sophie Turner tagged Taylor Swift when she posted the above image! Interestingly enough, Taylor is the second pop star to be associated with Dazzler. Bryan Singer briefly teased that Lady Gaga would play the role in X-Men: Days of Future Past (check the tweet's date)...

I can finally announce @ladygaga is joining #XMen #DaysofFuturePast as Dazzler. One of my all-time favorite characters. Can't wait!— Bryan Singer (@BryanSinger) April 1, 2013

Of course, this particular nod makes real sense. X-Men: Apocalypse is based in the 1980s, and Dazzler became very much the embodiment of disco and '80s pop. So this is such an appropriate little Easter egg!
