Created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom that made its debut on CBS on September 24, 2007. When the show first began, the show was centered around five characters living in Pasadena, California. Physicists Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) both live together in the same apartment, which is opposite the apartment of the attractive girl, Penny (Kaley Cuoco). Leonard and Sheldon both work at Caltech alongside their closest friends, Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar).

Following a lot of sarcasm, jokes and tears later, two new characters were gradually introduced to the show, who have now become major characters on the sitcom. The character Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) joined #TheBigBangTheory in the Season 3 finale when Sheldon matched with her on a dating website. Other newcomer, Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch) also made her first appearance in the show during Season 3 when she started dating Howard before marrying him in Season 5.

A Record Breaking Spin-Off Show

With the mothership series proving to be successful across the world, Warner Bros. have now decided to launch a spin-off series entitled #YoungSheldon. The spin-off show tells the story of a nine-year-old Sheldon who skipped four grades in school and went straight to High School.

The series made its debut appearance on Monday, September 27 on CBS and fans loved it. It's been confirmed that Young Sheldon will now be getting a full season following its record-breaking premiere. The opening episode was watched by 17.21 million people on its opening night, which triggered a full season.

Despite the series making its debut already, the show is now taking a break until November 2nd, which is when the series will fully kick off. But, don't worry, we're here to keep you updated on the breaking news.
