Anybody can be who they want to be. You just may surprise yourself when given the chance to test your strength.

Zootopia won the Best Animated Movie in 2016. Disney released a powerful story about the world of animals of all species living together in Zootopia. Judy Hopps is the first bunny cop. Ignoring others skepticism, Judy tests her abilities on the mission to find a missing otter. Along the way, a coy fox attempts to sabotage her plans only to discover that there is so much more.

If you’re ever searching for a feel-good movie, Zootopia is the right film. Directors Bryan Moore and Rich Howard deliver a heartwarming story in a very creative manner. Using animals as symbolism in the placement of stereotypes for views of race and gender is a refreshing break from overuse in live action films.

I did not get a chance to see Zootopia when it was out in theaters. Good reviews make the lead up to watching a film all the more exciting. The moment the movie finished on my TV screen I was enthralled and even surprised. That’s Disney for you. Disney has made remarkable growth in its stories and characters.

Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are a solid team. At first, they’re not fond of one another due to their species. Their snarky attitude makes the characters all the more memorable. Writers created deep backgrounds for Judy and Nick making them relatable to audiences. We all have our stories and obstacles. Nobody should ever judge anyone’s abilities just by their appearance.

A long list of memorable characters adds to the comedy and drama. Characters have a solid motivation. Depth is so important. The best example is the gruff Chief Bogo. He is sympathetic and is silly when he has to be. Characters are not one. They have to be more.

A number of well-known actors give their voice to this beautiful work. Once Upon a Time fans will recognize Ginnifer Goodwin as the eager Judy Hopps. Comedy isn’t a set back for Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde. Other incredulous voices include Idris Elba, Jenny Slate, Nate Torrence and even special appearances by Octavia Spencer, Tommy Chong, and Shakia.

The CGI animation is so smooth and there’s a layer of suspense through dark lighting and the chilling music. Scenes that take place in the jungles are beautifully designed. I could study the design of the Zootopia city all day! So much time and commitment goes into the making of animated movies.

One of the best scenes is all the sloths working at the DMV. So relatable and such a great choice!! It had me laughing out loud!

The one change that I would make is the reveal of the true villain was a little obvious. They needed a better motivation and their behavior along with their actions was suspicious.

"Try Everything" was a song written by Shakira just for this movie. Listen to it and it’ll become one of your favorite songs. The lyrics signify our need to keep moving forward. Don’t ever give up your battles when someone or even yourself.

Zootopia has motivated me to keep doing what I love best and never give up. It is okay to fail. It is not okay to give up.

Disney never fails at an attempt to create an impactful message. I love Judy’s ‘can do’ attitude. Being positive is one of my best traits. We all need to look at the bright side. Judy Hopps is another character who many are inspired to be.

A great film for all audiences, especially kids. Join Judy and Nick on an incredible journey. The message will forever resonate with audiences.
