The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has already seen a serious boom in popularity. It's a universe that has brought to life epic heroes like Deadpool, Wolverine, and Spider-Man (the Tobey Maguire version, anyway).

The newest superhero to step out of comic books and onto the silver screen is Captain Marvel, who'll be the star of a movie by the same name. Stan Lee's true believers are all stoked to see this sexy heroine kick ass and take names.

Like with any other upcoming Marvel movie, rumors abound about Captain Marvel. Here are some of the most interesting rumors about the Captain Marvel movie that might just be true.

It's not a secret that the Marvel Cinematic Universe can jump around when it comes to the times that things take place in. That's why there's a little contention on which Marvel movies to watch first.

One of the more prominent rumors about Captain Marvel deals with its timeline. Rumor has it that it takes place immediately before Avengers: Infinity War. But is this really true?

The folks over at ScreenRant did a little sleuthing and found this rumor to be confirmed, explaining how Captain Marvel will change the course of the MCU.

Jude Law is going to be playing Mar-Vell.

So, though there are some things people never knew about Captain Marvel, most people who have read the comics know that Carol Danvers isn't the only Captain Marvel out there. The superhero moniker also belongs to an alien who is known as Mar-Vell, who was the first Captain Marvel in the Marvel Comics Universe.

What we currently do know is that actor Jude Law appears in the Captain Marvel trailer. We don't, however, officially know what his role is. At one point, Disney tied Jude Law's name to Mar-Vell on a site involving actor credits. Officials claimed he might be playing a villain.

The jury is still out on what Jude will be doing, but it's safe to say he's probably going to be a pretty amazing part of the movie. He's talented enough to pull off both a superhero and a super villain role, if he chose to do so.

There will be an awkward moment with the Incredible Hulk.

Bruce Banner's superhero side definitely has a lot of screen time. He's gotten his own movie, had tons of time inthe Avengers franchise, and also just seems to be a writer favorite. Leaked movie art shows that the Hulk will be making an appearance at Captain Marvel.

What's awkward about this, you ask? It's Hulk's alleged combat suit. Apparently, it's really not well-designed. Many forum readers have been calling it "cringey."

Though this isn't one of the confirmed rumors about the Captain Marvel movie hitting forums, it seems pretty legit. We're hoping it's not true.

We'll get to see a young Nick Fury.

Ever since we saw Nick Fury's appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we fell in love with him. His trademark eyepatch just makes him seem so badass, even without regards to his role as the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D.

One of the confirmed rumors about Captain Marvel reveals that we're going to be able to see a young Nick Fury make an appearance. Moreover, we're going to see Nick Fury back when he had two eyes. Exciting!

Rick Jones might make an appearance.

If you read the Marvel comic books, then you might already know that Rick Jones is pretty much a perennial, professional sidekick. He was a sidekick to the Incredible Hulk, shared a body with Mar-Vell, and also just randomly showed up in comic book pages.

According to multiple sources, one of the more likely-to-be-true rumors about Captain Marvel includes an introduction to Rick Jones in the MCU. I'm not sure how well this will go over with fans; he's not a favorite, if you know what I mean.

Ronan the Accuser will make an appearance, too.

Feeling glum about seeing Rick in pictures? I don't blame you, but there is a silver lining to that dark cloud. If you were a fan of Guardians of the Galaxy, you might remember the Kree bad guy known as Ronan the Accuser.

Seems like he will be featured in Captain Marvel as well. According to ScreenRant, this is one of the confirmed rumors about the Captain Marvel movie that fans are praising. Everything we know about Captain Marvel so far just became a little more interesting.

Skrulls will invade Earth as a main part of the plot.

We all know that Skrulls are bad news thanks to all the recent movies in the Marvel universe. They play a major baddie in the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series, too.

According to the Marvel Cinematic Wiki, Skrulls are a major villain group in Captain Marveltoo. Rumor has it that they will have an Earth invasion plot during this flick. Terrifying? Oh my, yes.

Captain Marvel is actually a Skrull with the real Carol Danvers's memories inside it.

It's been confirmed that Captain Marvel will feature a very different origin story from the beloved comic book series—but what the origins story will be remains to be seen. As you can imagine, fans went crazy coming up with origins for the lady captain.

One of the stranger ideas that could possibly, maybe work? Saying that the superheroine is actually a Skrull that absorbed Captain Marvel's memories. This leads to a lot more questions than answers, though.

Peggy Carter will return!

Captain Marvel is a movie that definitely packs a powerful punch of girl power, and if you've been following along with the Marvel movies, you might remember Peggy Carter.

Don't remember who she is? Well, Peggy was first introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger. It was Peggy who organized the first S.H.I.E.L.D. group, and now, she's going to be back in action once more.

Marvel confirmed this. Girl power!

Carol Danvers will not have aged when she appears in 'Avengers 4.'

It's pretty expected that Captain Marvel will be appearing in Avengers 4 as well as her own movie title. This is great and all, but there's one small issue. The movie plots are set to happen about two decades apart.

So how does Marvel Studios fix it? According to one of the more unusual rumors about the Captain Marvel movie, Carol Danvers will get a major anti-aging boost from a machine that gives her superpowers.
