15. 'The Bone Collector' (1999)

Angelina Jolie as Amelia Donaghy In The Bone Collector

A quadriplegic detective (Denzel Washington) and his female partner (Angelina Jolie) try to track down a serial killer who is terrorizing New York City. Angelina Jolie brings a special energy to all the movies she works on and without a shadow of a doubt she is one of my favorite actresses. The Bone Collector gives you chills and keeps you in suspense.

14. 'Disturbia' (2007)

Disturbia

A troubled high school student (Shia LaBeouf) becomes convinced he is living next door to a wanted serial killer. After a fight with a teacher, he is put under house arrest. During his domestic detention, he begins to spy on his mysterious neighbor, believing him to be a murderous psychopath on the run from the authorities. The thing that I loved about this movie was its ability to build suspense. With a great supporting role of David Morse.

13. 'The Call' (2013)

Abigail Breslin In The Call

In terms of suspense- probably the best thriller I've ever seen. An operator for an emergency call-center, Jordan (Halle Berry) faces the most challenging call of her career from a kidnapped girl (Abigail Breslin). The best thrillers are the ones that you can watch many times and still enjoy as if you're watching them for the first time. The Call, to me, is like that.

12. 'The River Wild' (1994)

Kevin Bacon and Meryl Streep In The River Wild

A fast-paced thriller in which a family on a rafting adventure in Montana are taken hostage by a pair of dangerous criminals. The rafting holiday—a birthday gift the ten-year-old son—turns into a nightmare when two armed killers take control and try to force the mother to use her skills to help them to escape down the dangerous part of the river. Absolutely loved this movie and its dynamism.

11. 'Panic Room' (2002)

Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart In Panic Room

Meg Altman (Jodie Foster) chooses a new home for her and her daughter (Kristen Stewart) somewhere in New York City. The family is ready for new beginnings and tries to enjoy the huge, and creepy, new home. Everything changes one night, when three intruders (great roles of incredible Jared Leto, and Forest Whitaker) break into the house. Mother and daughter barely manage to escape to the only possible shelter—panic room. Little they know that the thing intruders want is exactly in this room... Oh, to make it even more dramatic, Meg's daughter is diabetic and her sugar level at some point suddenly drops. Meg (Jodie Foster) needs to save her daughter's life and tries to get an insulin injection, which is in the room next to the panic room. I'm excited even just by writing this. I love this movie and its suspenseful and creepy vibe.

10. 'Gone Girl' (2014)

Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck In Gone Girl

Marvelous roles of Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck. Former New York-based writer Nick (Ben Affleck) and his glamorous wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) present a portrait of a perfect marriage to the public. However, when Amy goes missing on the couple's wedding anniversary, Nick becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance. Everything starts leading to questions about who Nick and Amy truly are.

9. 'Journal 64' (2018)

Journal 64

Unfortunately, I don't watch many international movies but when I do, I hope they are as good as the Danish film, Journal 64, directed by Christoffer Boe. Two workmen make an alarming discovery in an older Copenhagen apartment: hidden behind a false wall, are three mummified corpses sitting around a dining table with one empty seat left. Carl (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) and Assad (Fares Fares) put all the effort into finding the tenant of the apartment and they end up finding clues tracing back to the institution for 'wayward' girls on the island of Sprogø.

8. 'Prisoners' (2013)

Paul Dano and Jake Gyllenhaal In Prisoners

Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) faces a nightmare when his six-year-old daughter, Anna, and her friend go missing. The only lead is an old motorhome that had been parked on their street. The head of the investigation, Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal), arrests the driver (Paul Dano), but because of the lack of evidence, Loki has to release his only suspect. Dover, knowing that his daughter is in danger, decides to take the matters into his own hands. The best roles of both Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano. The creepy vibe of Pennsylvania, the mystery of the case, and the music make this movie one of the best thrillers ever made. It is also directed by the incredible Denis Villeneuve. One of my all-time favorites.

7. 'The Da Vinci Code' (2006)

Audrey Tautou and Tom Hanks In The Da Vinci Code

A murder in Paris' Louvre Museum and hidden clues in some of Leonardo da Vinci's most famous paintings lead to the discovery of a religious mystery. For 2,000 years, a secret society closely guarded information that, should it come to light, could rock the very foundations of Christianity. An amazing movie for conspiracy theory lovers, suspense, history, and art enthusiasts.

6. 'Misery' (1990)

Kathy Bates In Misery

This suspenseful, thrilling, and disquieting movie is pure gold. After a serious car crash, novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is rescued by former nurse Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), who claims to be his biggest fan. Annie brings him to her secluded house to recover, where her obsession takes a dark turn when she discovers Sheldon is killing off her favorite character from his novels. As Sheldon plans the escape, Annie grows increasingly controlling and even violent...

5. 'The Girl In the Fog' (2017)

The Girl In the Fog

This incredible Italian crime-thriller is based on the novel by Donato Carrisi. The creepy atmosphere of the city in the middle of the Alps, and the mysterious disappearance of a young woman, are already enough to give you a proper thriller vibe. You change your suspects every five minutes and can't help asking yourself: who did it? Also, Jean Reno is a guest star of the movie and he doesn't disappoint.

4. 'Bird Box' (2018)

Sandra Bullock in Bird Box

When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing is certain—if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with a new danger that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they have to cover their eyes from the evil and somehow complete the journey blindfolded. The opinions on this movie are very mixed, as it usually happens when the movie suddenly becomes very popular. Personally, I enjoyed it. It's gripping, dynamic, and concise. Oh, and I love Sandra Bullock.

3. 'Elle' (2016)

Isabelle Huppert In Elle

The successful CEO (Isabelle Huppert) of a video game company tries to learn the identity of the man who hurt her. The woman grows increasingly suspicious of the men in her life. Furthermore, she is the daughter of an infamous mass murderer. Neo-noir psychological thriller drama film directed by Paul Verhoeven, and the incredible role of Isabelle Huppert, for which she was nominated for the Academy Award.

2. 'The Silence of the Lambs' (1991)

Anthony Hopkins In The Silence of the Lambs

Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) is a brilliant psychiatrist, who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) is a top student at the FBI's training academy. She's facing a huge new career opportunity when she's asked to interview Lecter in person, but it's way different than she imagined it to be. This movie is a classic when it comes to thrillers and it's so good.

1. 'Flightplan' (2005)

Flightplan

Airplane engineer, Kyle Pratt (Jodie Foster), is heading home from Germany to New York to bury her husband. But three hours into the flight, she awakens to find her young, beloved daughter missing and the entire flight crew, including the Captain (Sean Bean) and Air Marshal Carson (Peter Sarsgaard), claims that the child was never on board. Determined to find her daughter, Kyle searches the limited space of the plane while trying to maintain her sanity. She is sure that her daughter was on board with her. She needs to figure out where her daughter is, and why the crew is trying to convince her that she's lying.
