8 Marvel and DC Characters That American Badass Chuck Norris Could Still Play

Chuck Norris has remained a prominent figure even as his activity in film has decreased, and it would be cool to see him get a shot in the superhero genre.

I was watching Walker, Texas Ranger for the first time in a long while, and I watched as one of my favorite actors of alltime, Chuck Norris, roundhouse kicked and beat his way through the bad guys.

It got me thinking about how amazing it would be if we were able to see Chuck Norris play a superhero or villain in the Marvel or DC Universes. While it would be awesome to see, the big problem is that Chuck Norris is currently 76-years old and past his prime. He actually has not been in a feature film since 2012 when he had a cameo in the The Expendables 2.

While the chances of him getting a role are slim, he is still one of the biggest pop culture icons in America, and has a large fan base. Chuck Norris jokes are still very popular and he has remained a prominent figure even as his activity in film has decreased and it would be cool to see him get a shot in the superhero genre.

I have put together a list of eight superheroes and villains that Chuck Norris still might have a chance to play in either DC or Marvel.

Doctor Fate

Doctor Fate via DC Comics.

Doctor Fate is basically the Doctor Strange of the DC Universe and his alter-ego Kent Nelson is always portrayed as an older gentleman. Chuck Norris has the age and could make this lesser known hero a fan favorite. While it would be the type of role he has never came close to tackling, I think that the potential is there.

Taskmaster

Taskmaster via Marvel Comics.

Tony Masters, aka Taskmaster, is a supervillain that has the ability to mimic the fighting techniques of anyone he faces. He is a former mercenary that is a master hand-to-hand combatant. Chuck Norris obviously has the martial arts expertise to pull off the character, and the backstory is one that Norris has experience playing in film and TV. While Tony Masters is never depicted as being as old as Norris currently is, if he is a good fit for the role and Marvel has a certain idea for him, then it could work.

Cable

Cable via Marvel Comics.

Cable is the mutant son of Cyclops and a Jean Grey clone that time travels and will be appearing in Deadpool 2. Chuck Norris is old enough to play the role and excels at playing a brooding tough guy. Norris being a red head is also a great match for being the son of Jean Grey. Just imagine the fourth wall breaks that would involve multiple Chuck Norris jokes.

Bruce Wayne -- Batman Beyond

Batman Beyond's Bruce Wayne via DC Comics

Batman Beyond was a hit animated show that fans have been clamoring to see in live-action. The series takes place in the distant future where Bruce Wayne is in his eighties and training a new Batman. Chuck Norris at 76 is the perfect age and has the deep voice to portray an older Bruce Wayne. Norris also plays the elder mentor role very well.

The Spectre

Spectre via DC Comics.

The Spectre is a character not usually portrayed as old as Norris, but one the actor is a good fit for. The Spectre is an immortal being who can warp time and space around him, and is one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe. He has the red hair and is able to play the police officer role that his alter ego Jim Corrigan is known for before his time as The Spectre.

Zeus -- DC Comics

Zeus via DC Comics.

Zeus in the DC Universe -- at least for a while -- was the biological father of Wonder Woman and Zack Snyder has confirmed that it will stay that way in the DC Universe Extended Universe. Chuck Norris has an interesting look for this role and I think that he could pull off a minor role in a the DCEU as being the powerful god.

Deathstroke

Deathstroke via DC Comics.

Slade Wilson is always portrayed as older and is one of the most dangerous men in the DC Universe. He is a master martial artist who was an ex-military man; these are two things things that Chuck Norris can play amazingly. While Norris has never played a character quite as dark as Slade WIlson, he could end up surprising people with his acting chops.

Old Man Logan

Old Man Logan via Marvel Comics.

If you have never had a chance to read the Old Man Logan series, then I highly suggest that you take the time to read the full story, because it might be one of the best works in all of comic book history. Wolverine 3 is going to be a very loose telling of the story, considering the comic focuses on a lot of characters that Fox doesn't have the rights to -- other than Wolverine -- I don't think that the adaptation will be too true to the comics.

While Hugh Jackman is currently playing Wolverine, I am looking at Chuck Norris to play this role in an alternate take on Fox's X-Men universe. Maybe even in the future, Marvel and Fox could work together to bring the comic to life in a film or TV mini-series.

Either way, I think Chuck Norris has the grizzled look and can play the brooding and more soft-hearted Wolverine that is in the Old Man Logan story. It is a role that I think he could do amazing in, and while the chances of him getting to ever play the character are little-to-none, it does not take away from how great he would be in the role.
